How loud is the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon?

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a halo car in every sense; it’s fast, it’s record-breaking, and of course, it’s loud. Specifically, when Richard Hammond tested the Demon’s loudness against a decibel meter in Grand Tour, the results were staggering. The Demon, technically a stock car, returned a metric of 118.8 decibels. 

Many SRT cars use active exhaust systems, meaning a flap within the exhaust system restricts exhaust at lower RPMs and cuts down on drone and noise. However, if the operator accelerates hard, the flaps open, and the exhaust becomes a flow-through system with maximum volume. Frankly, the 840-horsepower, supercharged 6.2L Dodge SRT Demon is nothing short of one of the most thunderously loud cars of recent years. 

Is the McLaren 720S one of the loudest cars with stock exhaust?

While McLarens are more synonymous with engineering and precision than loudness, the 720S shakes that conception. According to CarBuzz, the 720S Spider produces an eardrum-shattering 109 decibels, making it one of the loudest cars without an aftermarket exhaust upgrade. 

It’s understandable, too; the topless McLaren churns out 710 horsepower from its 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 mill. Interestingly, the 720S is on par with the average concert in terms of decibels; don’t forget your earplugs. 

How loud is the Shelby GT350R?

The Shelby GT350 and GT350R added some peculiar and, more importantly, loud appeal to the Ford Mustang lineup. It ditched the cross-plane 5.0L Coyote V8 engine for a flat-plane “Voodoo” 5.2L V8. While that change in displacement might not seem noteworthy, it’s the way the Voodoo revs that wins hearts. Specifically, the flat-plane crank allows the GT350R’s 5.2L V8 to rev up to 8,250 RPM. 

At the top of the Ford’s soundtrack, the GT350R will produce around 96 decibels, making it one of the loudest cars of recent years. Your neighbors will dread the day you cold start your Shelby GT350R. 

Is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS loud? 

It seems like a silly question, but the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is undoubtedly loud. The track-ready Porsche coupe will sing at around 108 decibels at its loudest. That kind of volume makes the race-ready child of Zuffenhausen one of the loudest stock cars of recent years. Of course, with a 4.0L flat six-cylinder engine that tops at around 9,000 RPM, it’s an incredible soundtrack. 

There are noisy cars, and then there are singers. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a tenor, plain and simple. 

Is the Lamborghini Huracán Peformante one of the loudest cars in recent years?

What kind of vehicular sound list wouldn’t include a Lamborghini? The Huracán Peformante is not only loud but also one of the loudest cars in recent years. CarBuzz says the V10-powered, track-ready Huracán will belt out its tune at nearly 109 decibels. Time spent in this 631-horsepower bull will leave you with a smile if also shouting, “what?” I challenge you to find a better way to lose your hearing.
