Some Disney Magic Can’t Hurt the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV’s Release
The Chevy Bolt is a great EV option today, but it’s getting even better soon. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV (electric utility vehicle) is a bigger and improved version of the regular Bolt, and that’s not the only thing it has going for it. Here’s a look at the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV and how Disney is giving the Bolt EUV a boost.
What’s known about the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV so far
At a starting price tag of just under $34,000, the Bolt EUV is pretty competitive in the electric SUV segment. For example, the Ford Mustang Mach-E costs about $43,000. That said, the Bolt EUV, like other Chevy EVs, no longer qualifies for the federal EV tax credits. Regardless, $34,000 is a very affordable EV option for many families.
As far as the interior goes, while the Bolt EUV is bigger than the regular Bolt, it’s still a subcompact crossover. It has a cargo capacity of about 16.3 cubic feet without folding the rear seats, and that’s not a huge amount of space. However, it has a 10.2-inch touch screen display, and it includes many standard smart safety features.
The Bolt EUV is also the first Chevy to have access to GM’s Super Cruise package. This driver-assistance package will give the Bolt EUV something similar to what Tesla models have as far as semi-autonomous driving goes. When it comes to its powertrain, though, the Bolt EUV is pretty average. Its electric motor produces 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, and it gets about 247 miles of range.
Disney sprinkles some magic on the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV
According to GM, to promote the Bolt EUV, Chevy collaborated with Disney to make the Magic is Electric commercial. Chevy shot parts of that commercial at Disney World, including scenes in the EPCOT Disney park. This collaboration makes a lot of sense since EPCOT is supposed to be a vision of tomorrow, and EVs like the Bolt EUV are thought to be the cars of tomorrow.
On top of that, the commercial uses a lot of Disney magic. A lot of famous Disney characters, such as Dumbo and Tinkerbell, show up in that commercial. However, that commercial wasn’t just about Disney, as Chevy took the time to show off some of the Bolt EUV’s new features, including the previously mentioned Super Cruise.
In addition to the Magic is Electric commercial, Chevy posted a 14-minute-long behind-the-scenes video showing off how this collaboration was created. However, as GM stated, this wasn’t the first time Disney collaborated with General Motors, and it won’t be the last.
A comparison between the two new Bolts
Since the Bolt EUV is the bigger car, it has some natural drawbacks compared to the regular Bolt. For example, the Bolt EUV should cost about $2,000 more than the regular Bolt. Furthermore, since the Bolt EUV’s powertrain is very similar to the regular Bolt’s, its extra size ends up costing a few miles of range. The Bolt gets about 259 miles on a single charge, while the Bolt EUV only gets 247 miles.
Furthermore, while the Bolt EUV is the bigger car, it actually has slightly less cargo capacity. The Bolt EV gets about 16.9 cubic feet of cargo space without folding its seats down. This is about half an inch more than what the Bolt EUV gets. That said, this disparity is due to the Bolt EUV having more passenger space than the Bolt EV does.
