According to sales data, the most popular used trucks of 2022 are the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ram 1500. Ford trucks reign supreme as the most popular used truck of 2022
When iSeeCars looked at used car sales in 2022, it looked at nearly 10 million used cars on the road last year. Full-size pickup trucks were the most popular of those, ahead of SUVs, crossovers, and two sedans. According to market data, the Ford F-150 pickup truck was the most sought-after vehicle in 31 states.
Sales of the Ford F-150 accounted for 3.3% of all used car sales. In 2021, the F-150 accounted for 3.6% of used car sales, which was enough to keep in the number one spot.

Karl Brauer, an iSeeCars Executive Analyst, said even with high gas prices seen in 2022 and trucks having sub-par fuel economy, that didn’t stop buyers from seeking out full-size trucks. The most popular used trucks of 2022 are also the most popular used cars sold all year, proving that Americans aren’t buying trucks on accident.
Chevrolet and Ram had some of the most popular used trucks of 2022
In the second spot, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 accounted for 2.8% of total used car sales last year. It also scored second in 2021, with 2.6% of sales. With the Ram 1500 in third place with 2.3% of sales in 2022, these full-size pickup trucks accounted for 8% of all used car sales last year.

Only the first three trucks made it into the top 10 of all used vehicles sold in 2022. SUVs and sedans occupied the rest. While buyers bought more pickup trucks more than any other vehicle, more buyers seem interested in SUVs this year than ever before. SUVs made up 8.6% of all used car sales in the top 10.
The Ford F-150 emerged as the top choice among vehicle buyers in 31 states
It is clear which truck was the winner, as the most popular option in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, all the way through to West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The next most popular vehicle was the Chevrolet Equinox SUV, coming in as the most popular vehicle in six states.
If that’s not enough, it was the most popular used vehicle in 24 out of 20 metro areas. The Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Silverado followed closely behind, taking the most popular spot in six metro areas each.
With its extensive selection of trim levels and limitless customization options, the Ford F-150 is poised to maintain its position as the top-selling used truck in 2023. With Ford selling a new F-Series truck every 49 seconds, it’s clear that Chevrolet and Ram will have a challenging time dethroning this king of trucks.
