First, Kia Connect, formerly UVO link, is Kia’s infotainment technology. It’s a significant upgrade from the previously titled UVO link, according to CarBuzz. It does many new things, but the most important is probably where it gets its name. Kia’s new system keeps owners connected to their vehicles at all times via smartphone. For example, remote features like lock/unlock, climate control, charging, Find My Car, stolen vehicle recovery, remote start, and more are available on your smart device.

In addition, the Digital Key 2 Touch technology allows owners to leave their key fob at home. Instead, your smartphone or smartwatch is your key, which can be shared with family and friends. Next, some Kia models have available Wi-Fi hotspots powered by Verizon. Next, over-the-air updates, which you might be familiar with from other automakers, are now available. These allow owners to update their navigation system, among other things, over the internet to prevent unnecessary dealership trips or outdated information.

Additionally, functions like a surround-view camera system, 911 Connect with roadside assistance, and calendar integration is available. Connected Routing uses information from the owners to calculate the best driving routes to their destination. Moreover, Smart Speaker Integration uses smart speakers/devices to control certain features remotely. Finally, Last Mile Navigation gives owners walking directions to destinations within a mile of the vehicle’s location.

Does Hyundai use the same infotainment system as Kia?

Since Hyundai is the parent company of Kia, do its vehicles also come with Kia Connect? In general, Hyundai’s version of the infotainment system is the same. However, it is not called Kia Connect, and not all features are identical. For example, Hyundai iblue is the next-gen system, which provides a simplified user interface via Bluetooth, the same as Kia vehicles. In addition, MirrorLink offers integration between the owner’s smartphone and the infotainment system.

According to Hyundai, “MirrorLink transforms smartphones into automotive application platforms where apps are hosted and run on the smartphone while drivers and passengers interact with them through the steering wheel controls, dashboard buttons and touch screens of their car’s In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system.” Moreover, the infotainment uses BlueLink, which helps with providing more information.

Using an enhanced cellular network, BlueLink “optimizes connections and prioritizes emergency requests.” In addition, it uses voice-response technology inside your vehicle. Owners can activate GPS and a live-assistance team simply by speaking.

Do Kia and Hyundai use the same infotainment systems?

In conclusion, Kia and Hyundai vehicles do not use the same infotainment systems. However, both systems are very similar and use most of the same features. Combined with the ability to receive over-the-air updates and operate your vehicle’s features from a smartphone application, the Hyundai and Kia infotainment systems are very modern.
