That’s right; after many short, animated teaser films to tempt fans into tuning in for the unveiling, the wait is over. Dodge’s new Demon 170 Challenger produces 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque. That makes it the most powerful production Dodge ever.

The final model arrives on the heels of six other Last Call vehicles. The first two, the Challenger Shakedown and Charger Super Bee, pack 485-horsepower 6.4L Apache V8 engines. In addition to the first two releases, the Charger and Challenger got the “Swinger” treatment, with an old-school script and the same 6.4L engines from the R/T Scat Pack. Finally, the Hellcat-powered Charger King Daytona and Challenger Black Ghost paved the way for the newest halo car.  

How is the Demon 170 so powerful?

Like the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcats before it, the new halo car packs a supercharged 6.2L V8. However, it runs on ethanol instead of pump gasoline and features 3.0L supercharger with 22lbs of boost and an entire reimagining of the beloved 6.2L mill. That 170-proof mixture is the source of its name, the Demon 170. 

However, it’s still the king of the hill on pump gas; the final Last Call model will produce around 900 horsepower and 810 lb-ft of torque. As a result, the new Dodge model will finish the quarter mile in just 8.9 seconds at 151 mph on a prepped surface. Furthermore, the brute hit 60 mph in just 1.66 seconds under favorable conditions, per Car and Driver. 

How many of the Demon 170 will Dodge make?

Like the other Last Call models, Dodge is releasing its last Challenger in limited numbers. However, the exact number isn’t clear yet. Still, Dodge says they want to produce 3,300, not unlike the original Demon. 

Is the Demon 170 the last Dodge Challenger? 

Unfortunately for fans of the Dodge Challenger, the Demon 170 will likely be the last gas-powered variant barring some electrified or hybridized reboot in the future. Still, even with the bittersweet departure of the layered soundtrack of a supercharged V8, the electric performance cars of the future will be a handful.
