The Dodge Challenger Gets a Victory Lap in ‘The Fall Guy’
Ryan Gosling isn’t done driving fast for Hollywood. In the upcoming film “The Fall Guy,” Gosling will slide cars and dive out of windows as a reluctant stuntman doing what it takes for love. However, promotional material suggests that another fan favorite will get some screen time just as its parent company turns out the lights. I’m talking, of course, about the currently doomed Dodge Challenger.
A widebody Dodge Challenger gets screentime in the upcoming Ryan Gosling film ‘The Fall Guy’
Ryan Gosling is no stranger to movies with car enthusiast appeal. His 2011 film “Drive” is a modern cult favorite among fans of noir crime films, near-silent dramatic tension, and automotive mayhem alike. However, in what seems like a much more light-hearted affair, Gosling is back behind the wheel in the upcoming action flick “The Fall Guy.”
In the film, Gosling plays a stuntman who will do just about anything for the woman he loves. In a silly and smile-inducing twist, that woman happens to be the director of a movie he’s working on, played by “A Quiet Place” star Emily Blunt. As you might imagine, Gosling’s character will have to do some serious driving. Fortunately for Mopar fans, one of the cars in the film is a shouty, V8-powered Dodge Challenger.
The culprit is an LA-platform widebody Challenger. However, the matte-finish muscle car is devoid of badging. However, the dual-snorkel hood and widebody construction point to a late-model Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Is that name long enough for you? Still, should the two-tone, de-badged Challenger be an SRT Hellcat Widebody, it’ll make for quite the addition to “The Fall Guy.”
Sure, Stellantis put the long-running, post-facelift Dodge Challenger out to pasture after the 2023 model year. However, the supercharged brute is still hilariously suited for Hollywood action. At its lowest output, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat produces 717 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful muscle cars ever. However, at the SRT Hellcat Redeye trim, the Canadian-built coupe ratchets output up to 797 ponies– if you can call them ponies. Like the model’s four-wheeled cameo in “Baby Driver,” the supercharged Dodge will be larger-than-life on-screen.
