Dodge Challenger Widebody Owner Just Had To Go Wider With Dually Truck Tires
Dodge discontinued its retro-modern muscle car, the Challenger, after around 15 years of continuous production. During that time, the big-body two-door coupe grew from a throwback muscle car to a tire-eviscerating punctuation mark for the horsepower wars. Part of that evolution involved Challenger Widebody models rolling out, pushing the Mopar to new proportions. However, for one owner, the widebody wasn’t wide enough– they had to add a dually truck rear-end setup. Seriously.
One Dodge Challenger Scat Pack owner decided their widebody would be part muscle car, part dually
Have you ever looked at a Dodge Challenger Widebody and thought, “That isn’t quite wide enough?” Well, that clearly influenced one owner’s decision to transform a Challenger R/T Scat Pack into a Frankenstein’s Monster-esque combination of muscle car and dually truck.
At the end of its tenure, the Challenger and Charger R/T Scat Pack summoned 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Those figures established the Mopar duo as two of the most powerful naturally aspirated cars of modern times. It wasn’t until the Challenger was on the chopping block that the seventh-generation Ford Mustang started producing as much as 500 horsepower from its long-running 5.0L Coyote V8.
As such, the Dodge Challenger on the revised LA platform, especially the widebody, was quite a handful. However, wide proportions and thunderous power reserves weren’t enough for one owner. That’s right, rather than thick-boy 305/35R20s under the flared rear fenders, this owner fabricated a dually rear-end. In place of the stock Challenger’s tires, the dually build wears four 215/65R17 Toyo tires at the rear.
But the move wasn’t just for looks. And it has a, erm, look. No, the owner wanted towing capacity to use it as a “toy hauler,” per the raysrides68 Instagram page. Needless to say, the Challenger Widebody’s reception is mixed.
Some comments read along the lines of “MY EYES!!!!!!” On the other hand, some users applaud the build for its creativity. We’ll let you create your own opinions on the brute.
