The 550-Horsepower Inline-Six Dodge Charger Sixpack Outmuscles the V8 Scat Pack
The upcoming 2025 Dodge Charger SIXPACK will be the Charger Daytona EV’s gas-powered stablemate. However, the SIXPACK’s point of comparison isn’t just the electrified Charger. No, it’s the now-discontinued R/T Scat Pack, and its sorely missed 6.4L V8 that the new Dodge Charger has to do right by.
The new 2025 Dodge Charger SIXPACK will pack a twin-turbocharged inline-six with enough power to embarrass the retired R/T Scat Pack
Dodge announced that the next-generation Dodge Charger SIXPACK would add ICE options to the brand’s upcoming Charger EV lineup. However, don’t expect a HEMI V8 under the hood of the SIXPACK. No, the upcoming Charger SIXPACK will pack the twin-turbocharged 3.0L Hurricane inline-six-cylinder engine in two different states of tune.
For starters, the SIXPACK S.O., or “Standard Output,” will produce 420 horsepower. It’s enough gusto to outmuscle the outgoing LD-platform Charger R/T and its 370-horsepower 5.7L HEMI V8. However, it’s not quite potent enough to match the output of the new seventh-generation Ford Mustang GT or range-topping Mustang Dark Horse.
However, the crown on the SIXPACK’s head belongs to the more performance-oriented of the two trims. The SIXPACK H.O., or “High Output,” will produce 550 horsepower from the same Hurricane mill, outmuscling not just the Ford Mustang Dark Horse but also the now-discontinued Charger R/T Scat Pack and its 485-horsepower naturally aspirated 6.4L V8.
Of course, the gas-powered Charger has a steep climb ahead of it. The now-discontinued LA-platform Dodge Challenger featured some of the most powerful muscle cars ever. That, and the incipient Charger Daytona Scat Pack EV will produce 670 horsepower on an all-wheel drive platform. Stiff competition from its high-voltage twin.
Consequently, the twin-turbocharged Charger SIXPACK is also set to be the most powerful non-supercharged modern Dodge Charger ever. Of course, 550 horsepower isn’t anywhere near as potent as the supercharged 6.2L SRT Hellcats of the previous generation. From the Hellcat’s inception for the 2015 model year, the SRT models produced over 700 horsepower, taking the now-concluded horsepower wars into the stratosphere.
