The Dodge Demon 170 Will Spank These 5 Hypercars
When the original SRT Demon screamed onto the scene in 2018, no one expected an encore. After all, the 4,280-lb bruiser was a list of smashed records: fastest-accelerating production ICE car, first factory muscle car to do a wheelie, and even the largest hood scoop ever fitted to a production model. However, Dodge wasn’t done with its underworldly nameplate. So, when the 2023 Dodge Demon 170 rolled out, it posted hypercar acceleration figures.
Believe it or not, the Dodge Demon 170 will outrun these five hypercars to 60 mph– with a caveat
Whether it be a bleeding edge EV like the Rimac Nevera or a hybrid hypercar like the Porsche 918 Spyder, the ultimate muscle car has them beat. At least, in the sprint from 0 to 60 mph, that is.

It’s true; the mad scientists behind the excessive SRT greats of recent years dropped the nuclear option to end the horsepower wars. For starters, the Dodge Demon 170’s moniker derives from its cocktail of choice, namely a 170-proof ethanol blend that swells its power output from 900 horsepower on pump gas to a stratospheric 1,025 hell-horses.
In short, Dodge produced the most powerful muscle car of modern times with 40 extra horses in the stable over the previous Demon. Then, with the addition of the Demon’s drink of choice, it becomes the first factory muscle car to break the 1,000-horsepower mark. Of course, with factory drag radials, the Dodge Demon 170 puts the power down enough to outsprint hypercars to 60 mph.
Even with grippy all-wheel drive (AWD) and 1,914 horsepower on tap, the all-electric Rimac Nevera can’t keep pace with the Demon 170. The same goes for hybrid hypercars like the Koenigsegg Gemera and Porsche 918 Spyder.
What’s more, a Demon 170 wouldn’t have a hope of keeping up with these hypercars around a circuit. For instance, the Lamborghini Huracán Performante recorded a lap around the fearsome Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:52.01. That’s faster than any production American car to date.
