Dodge EV Muscle Car’s Interior Is Science Fiction
Dodge is making an ambitious stab into the electric vehicle era with its Charger Daytona SRT Concept. Gone are the four doors of the gas-powered Chargers; the two-door, somewhat familiar shape of the classic Charger is back. However, the Dodge EV Muscle Car’s interior is even wilder than its dramatic throwback-exterior cues. Complete with an ominous glow and a layout similar to a science fiction spaceship, it is a crazy environment.
If a science fiction villain drove an EV, it would probably be Dodge’s new EV Muscle Car, the Charger Daytona SRT EV
At a glance, the new Dodge Charger Daytona SRT electric vehicle looks a bit like an early 1970s Charger if you’re squinting at it. However, focus your gaze, and you’ll notice that it features modern materials, subtle aero, and sinister LED lighting throughout. However, it gets even crazier when you drink in the interior aesthetic.
You’ll first notice a wrap-around lighting feature that Dodge calls a “halo” featuring “Attitude Adjustment Lighting.” Regardless of the tech, though, it seems like the cockpit of a bad guy’s fighter in the Star Wars franchise. For instance, Dodge opted to encase the electric Charger’s start button with a “jet-fighter inspired” cap.
Dodge’s “driver-centric interior is practical, stylish, and perhaps a bit evil-looking
In addition to the wrap-around lighting and circuit-style graphics, the Dodge EV Muscle Car features copious carbon fiber. It’s unclear whether the production models will feature the handsome trim or whether the marque will reserve it for the top-tier Banshee models. Still, the electric Charger Daytona has carbon fiber door sills, flooring, and mirrors.
The concept features a 12.3-inch center screen and a 16-inch digital instrument cluster. However, rather than a flat layout, Dodge chose a wrap-around, curved construction. The marque claims that it will create a “driver-centric” interior. Finally, Dodge’s EV Muscle Car Concept also features an 8-by-3 inch heads-up display (HUD), so the driver can access even more data.
The Dodge EV Muscle Car’s interior features old-school cool touches
The new concept doesn’t leave the throwback features to the exterior alone; Dodge opted for 1968 Dodge Charger-inspired interior details, drawing inspiration from the classic’s grille. That pattern compliments the interior lighting, creating what Dodge calls “a three-dimensional quality.” Perhaps the greatest throwback interior feature is the pistol grip-inspired shifter, undoubtedly inspired by the wood grain shifters of yesteryear.
What’s with the Dodge EV Muscle Car’s steering wheel?
Dodge’s Concept wheel is a far cry from the Charger and Challenger steering wheels fans know so well. Instead, the marque went with a flat-bottomed steering wheel featuring an illuminated badge and a set of paddle shifters. Also, drivers will notice that the center spoke of the wheel isn’t connected to the rim, which Dodge says will create a “floating” feel. Finally, the best detail is, without a doubt, the “PowerShot” button on the right side.
If the driver hits the PowerShot button, MotorTrend says they will enjoy a momentary boost of 25 horsepower for electric passing power. Also, on the left side of the wheel, drivers can toggle through driving modes. The driving modes include Auto, Sport, Track, and Drag, which modify driving dynamics and even interior lighting.
Dodge certainly went the extra mile to marry its Charger past with an EV future. Scroll down to the following article to read more about Mopar muscle!
