On September 6, Ryan Myrick was driving his old Dodge Ram truck in Lakewood, Colorado, when an SUV in front of him swerved back and forth across the lanes. He soon realized the driver was completely unconscious. In fact, her hands were nowhere near the steering wheel; she was hunched over, leaning all the way into the passenger seat area. The out-of-control car hit the center divider and kept moving upward, nearly flipping before landing back down. After clocking that the vehicle headed toward a dangerous overpass with traffic below, Myrick made a split-second decision.

He moved his Dodge Ram in front of the unconscious driver and put on his brakes. “I let her vehicle impact me to stop her from going forward,” Myrick told Fox31. Soon after, the SUV hit his rear bumper. Thankfully, it worked.

An off-duty police officer was in the area and moved to attend to the scene. Together, he and Myrick worked to break the windows and turn off the out-of-control car. A nurse was in one of the surrounding vehicles and quickly started helping the woman.

“This man is as selfless as they come.”

According to Myrick’s girlfriend, Danielle Stephens, the woman regained consciousness and was awake when paramedics took her to the hospital.

Stephens says that 2024 has been difficult for them, having lost several family members and raising teenagers together. After explaining that first responders and the tow truck driver were “shocked” at his action, she insists, “He is always willing to help another in need, despite any financial burden it may cause him. He truly has the biggest heart in the world. Being a good human is great for the heart/soul and in this case saved lives, but it can also be financially draining at times.”

She recently set up a GoFundMe to assist with repairs to the Dodge Ram. Contributors have already provided their $1,000 goal…and then some.

“The damage that was done on my truck is nothing compared to the lives that would have been taken or could’ve been taken if I didn’t do what I did,” Myrick told Fox31. “I would have done it again in a brand-new truck.”

Today, Stephens shared on the page that they are going to meet the woman Myrick saved this week. I hope Ram catches wind of this “good news” story, too.
