Dodge to Reveal 2021 Lineup Thursday
Dodge and its parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, have been itching to launch their 2021 lineup for months. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has held them back as manufacturers across the globe had to re-evaluate their planned launches. Today came word, via a press release, that Dodge is once again moving forward. Dodge will begin a campaign on teasers today until the ultimate reveal on Thursday.
The lead up to the holiday weekend
In the lead up to the holiday weekend, Dodge created a Hemi Star Spangled Banner. That is right, the Star Spangled Banner is recreated via the sound of their iconic Hemi engines. It will be similar to that cat food commercial where cats are singing songs only by saying, meow. This time, however, the sound of freedom will be recreated with growling engine notes.
Dodge already released one teaser
The first 30-second teaser has already been launched at Dodge.com. That video also included below. Admittedly, the engine sounds are a stretch for the patriotic song.
Three additional teasers will be released by the July 2nd reveal of the lineup. All the teasers are being shared through the various social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Each channel will have its own teaser.
“The sound of a screaming supercharged HEMI is so distinctive that this teaser video doesn’t need a single image … if you know, you know. Tune in July 2 to celebrate with Dodge the pursuit of life, liberty and 8,950 horsepower.” – Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America.
After the full reveal of the Dodge lineup on July 2nd, a full-length video will be released that will incorporate the music created by the teaser.
The current Dodge lineup
The current 2020 Dodge lineup includes performance powerhouses in the form of the SRT badged Charger, Challenger, and Durango. Dodge claims the Charger is the only American four-door muscle car and that in Hellcat trim it is, “the most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world.” It also claims of the Durango, “the fastest, most powerful and most capable American three-row SUV.”
The other vehicles in the lineup are the Grand Caravan, and Journey. Both of those models are being phased out gradually. Although, it is speculated that they may not be represented at the reveal of the 2021 lineup on Thursday.
Overall, last week seemed to open the flood doors for manufacturer reveals. Lordstown Motors revealed their first product, an electric pickup. Ford also revealed its new F-150. This week will have the before mentioned Dodge lineup reveal. The rest of July should prove to be exciting again as well. The Ford Bronco reveal is the big headliner. It is scheduled for July 13th. But, look to other manufacturers to announce their own reveals as well.
The thrill of the hunt
As writers for the automotive industry, reveals are the things that get us excited. Learning the details of new products before they actually reach the showrooms is tantalizing. Then being able to convey those details to our readers is fun as well.
Teasers are even more fun because our creative juices start to flow in trying to determine how much a sneak peek it is. Dodge’s sneak peek only gives us engine noises. So, there is not much to determine. Granted, though, the supercharger whine of a Hellcat engine is thrilling by itself. So, the hunt goes on for more details ahead of the planned reveal on Thursday at noon.
