What are common Telluride complaints? 

Critics and owners are quick to mention that the Kia Telluride isn’t exactly sporty or nimble. Despite having responsive steering, the Telluride can have a bit of heft around turns and doesn’t have the best turning radius. 

The 3.8-liter V6 engine cranks out 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque to help the Telluride accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds, which is average. But the brakes provide smooth and consistent stops. 

Common complaints involve the auto start and stop system. You have to manually turn it off each time you start the SUV because the setting doesn’t stay. Also, it can be a little laggy and intrusive. 

The Telluride has a pretty smooth ride over most surfaces but can be bumpy over rough patches of pavement. The 20-inch tires are noticeably bouncier than the 18-inch tires. 

Some mention that the engine doesn’t sound great, but it’s not a Ford F-150 Raptor or sporty SUV. The engine is fairly quiet but can be noticeable at highway speeds. 

Also, critics mention that the Telluride isn’t the best on gas. It gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and up to 26 mpg on the highway. 

The Telluride features an average amount of cargo space that’s on par with class leaders. It can even tow up to 5,000 lbs and have a neat underfloor storage compartment. However, it lacks storage spaces for smaller personal items. 

How reliable is the Telluride? 

The Kia Telluride features an above-average reliability rating. It earned a score of 85 out of 100 points from J.D.Power, which is great. Anything with a score between 91 – 100 is considered to be the best. 

With proper care and maintenance, the Telluride should make it to 200,000 to 250,000 miles without needing significant repairs. If you drive about 15,000 miles per year, then it should provide 13 years of use on the road. 

The Telluride should maintain about 47 percent of its resale value after five years of ownership, which is great. So, if it isn’t your cup of tea, you should be able to sell it or trade it in without hurting your wallet. 

So far, the biggest Telluride complaints seem minimal and easy to get past. This SUV makes owners very happy with little to no regrets.
