Does the Ford Escape Have a Panoramic Sunroof?
The 2021 Ford Escape gets a few upgrades this year, despite its redesign last year. Probably the most significant change is the availability of hybrid variations with some trims. A few add-on packages have been shuffled as well, allowing for a more streamlined way to include those must-have amenities. And one of the luxury-level additions consumers love is the panoramic sunroof. Can you get a version of the 2021 Ford Escape with one of these popular features?
Meet the 2021 Ford Escape
This versatile crossover continues to impress this year. Many of the latest driver aids are now available, as is Ford’s newest rendition of the Sync infotainment platform. Many reviews suggest the interface is one of the most user-friendly in this segment. The 2021 Ford Escape is roomy, comfortable, and customizable. There is a menu of trims and packages available, along with different engines and powertrains, making it easy to configure your best Escape version.
Trims to help you configure your best version
The 2021 Ford Escape is available with four trims: the base model S, SE, SEL, and the Titanium. Most trims come with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, capable of harnessing 181 hp. Paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission, the Escape offers smooth shifting through every gear.
New this year is the adoption of hybrid options. The SE and SEL trims offer a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain with 200 hp and a CVT. The Titanium trim comes with this hybrid engine as standard. And if you need even more power, you have the option to upgrade engines with the SEL and Titanium trims to include the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, capable of 250 hp. This more powerful engine, as Edmunds points out, is the only variation, however, that comes with AWD.
But what about a panoramic sunroof?
Sure, the sleek design, connected interior, and customizable engines are nice. But what about that super-popular panoramic sunroof? Stretching over both rows, the panoramic sunroof allows natural light to flow throughout the cabin. And it’s perfect for stargazing during those warm summer nights.
The 2021 Ford Escape offers a panoramic roof, but only on the higher-level trims. If you opt for the entry-level base trim, you’ll really only be getting a fraction of the amenities that you can add with the upgraded trims. If you want the panoramic sunroof, Ford says you’ll have to go with the SE, SEL, or Titanium trims.
Other luxury-level amenities you can get
Stepping up from the base-level S trim, you can expect a robust menu of extras. The 2021 Ford Escape SE really brings the goods, including an 8-inch touchscreen, 17-inch alloy wheels, and satellite radio. If you choose the hybrid powertrain for your SE, you can add other must-have packages like the Convenience package, the SE Sport Appearance Package, and even the Cold Weather package. And if you want that panoramic sunroof, you can add it to your Escape SE.
Car and Driver suggests the best trim for the 2021 Ford Escape is the SEL. At this level, you can expect luxury-level extras, including the leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote start, and a hands-free power liftgate. You will also have your choice of reconfigured packages to add to your Escape SEL. The Technology Package includes a 10-speaker B&O sound system. The SEL Stealth AWD package shows off impressive 19-inch black wheels and exterior styling. There is also the Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package, a package for towing capability, and yes, the panoramic sunroof.
Of course, if you really want the best the Ford Escape has to offer, you might want to check out the Titanium. It comes with chrome, tech, driver assistance aids, leather, and more. But if it’s the panoramic sunroof you’re after, just stay above the base-level S trim.
