In the last decade, all-electric vehicles have grown tremendously. Tesla’s automotive company is no longer monopolizing the market. But Tesla has been around the longest. The question now is, do they still build the best electric cars you can buy? 

Well, US News & World Report explored that very question. They came up with a list of the best electric vehicles based on their review scores. Tesla landed on the list with four of its models. Let’s see how well each one did. 

Are the Tesla Model Y and the Model X good Electric vehicles for the money?

The Model Y is the first Tesla you encounter on the list. While it scored a 7.9 out of a possible 10, it isn’t the best electric vehicle. It falls pretty much in the middle range ahead of the Chevy Bolt, BMW i3, and the Kia Niro EV. 

The Tesla Model X has one of the most extended ranges on a battery pack in the all-electric vehicle segment. It’s rated for a 351-mile distance, which is pretty remarkable for a three-row vehicle. It received a score of 8.3 out of 10 and landed in the number five spot.  

But there’s one major point holding them both back from being the best in the EV market, and that’s their starting price. The Model Y starts at $49,990 MSRP, while the Model X runs $79,990. Both have impressive features and perform well, but are they worth the high price tags? It doesn’t seem so, at least not with US News & World Report. 

How well does the Tesla Model 3 stand up with its competitors?

Tesla’s Model 3 landed in the number two spot ahead of the Porsche Taycan. With a score of 8.8 out of 10, the Model 3 overshadows all of the electric vehicles on the market, except for the car in the number one spot. 

This is Tesla’s most affordable option in their lineup. The starting price comes in around $37,990, and it gets you some pretty decent features. As far as traveling distance, the Standard Range Plus gets you 250 miles, while the Long Range brings 322 miles. 

However, the longer distance brings a higher price tag, which Tesla set at $46,990. It still falls in the more affordable range, but it’s about $10,000 more than the standard range model. Still, it’s about $50,000 cheaper than what the Porsche Taycan goes for on the market. 

Which Tesla is the best as far as value is concerned?

The fourth and final Tesla model that made the list is the Model S. This is probably their best one yet. They rated it a 9.0 out of 10, which got it to the number one spot. You can’t argue with that, since it has an impressive list of niceties. The price, however, is high. At $74,990, it’s one of the most expensive. But they offer more with this model than they do with the others. 

The most impressive feature is the 402-mile rating. This makes it the longest-running model on the entire list. It’s super-quick acceleration, incredibly spacious interior, high-quality cabin, and top-of-the-line tech equipment make the price worth it in the long run. 

Having four models make the US News & World Report’s list, and place in some of the top spots prove they make the best EV cars on the market. Their competitors, however, are producing decent EV cars and SUVs as well. Only time will tell if Tesla can continue to be the best in this segment.
