With over 100 million Echo devices using Alexa to control over 85,000 smart home products, it’s safe to say that Amazon’s Alexa is beloved among many. Fortunately, for car owners, plenty of new models come equipped with Alexa Built-In. Among those vehicles is the 2020 Equinox.

Much like an at-home Alexa device, Alexa Built-In allows you to use Amazon’s handy assistant for everything from playing your favorite songs to providing you with directions to your next destination.

Unlike an at-home Alexa device, the 2020 Equinox comes with Alexa Built-In. Meaning, rather than having to use an external device or your phone to use Alexa, this year’s Equinox has it built directly into its infotainment system.

The 2020 Equinox has Alexa Built-In, which can be accessed using its infotainment system. To get started, you will need to set it up first. While you do need a subscription to use Alexa, Chevy offers several different plans to choose from. 

To use Alexa Built-In, just say ‘Alexa,’ and you can have it do anything from add items to your Amazon cart, play a specific artist or genre, or help you get to your next destination. There are also thousands of Alexa skills available, making it easy to add additional skills to the 2020 Equinox.

Other SUVs with Alexa Built-In

If the 2020 Equinox isn’t quite your style, don’t fret. Several SUVs come readily equipped with Alexa Built-In. 

According to Kelley Blue Book, Alexa Skills are available on new Buick SUVs equipped with the myBuick system. Ford offers Ford+Alexa with AppLink, too, enabling owners to connect their Ford with an at-home Alexa device. GMC, Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan also offer Alexa compatibility on several models.

2020 Equinox tech features

Alexa Built-In isn’t the only tech feature this year’s Equinox has to offer. Settle into the driver’s seat of this year’s model, and you’ll find that the 2020 Equinox is absolutely brimming with tech-savvy features.

Standard on the 2020 Equinox is the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System with a 7-inch color touchscreen. Also available on this year’s model is an 8-inch infotainment system featuring step-by-step navigation. To top things off, the 2020 Equinox also offers a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot so that you can stay connected no matter where the road ahead might take you.

For parents, Chevy’s Teen Driver Technology is also pretty appealing. Not only does this onboard driving coach automatically turn on certain available safety features, but it also provides an in-vehicle report card to help teen drivers fine-tune their skills behind the wheel.

Is the 2020 Equinox worth checking out?

There are plenty of reasons to check out the 2020 Equinox, and Alexa Built-In is just one of the many. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Beyond its many tech-centric features, Chevy says J.D. Power has also recognized the Chevy Equinox as the ‘Most Dependable Compact SUV” three years in a row. 

All in all, if you’re on the hunt for an SUV that’s as dependable as it is tech-savvy, you really can’t go wrong with the 2020 Equinox.
