Does the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe Come Standard With Apple CarPlay?
Automaker Hyundai is known for packing as much as possible into an affordable vehicle. Boasting some of the best standard safety and tech features on the market, Hyundai offers comfort, convenience, and dependability into its entire lineup. So with the newest 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe hitting the roads, what standard features can owners expect? And does the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe come standard with Apple CarPlay?
Does the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe come with Apple CarPlay?
The newest 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe comes standard with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on all trim levels and variants. According to a press release from Hyundai, the automaker has offered these two features free in their vehicles after being the “the first automaker in the world to offer Android Auto” in 2015.
Since then, both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay became standard features in Hyundai’s growing lineup. While most automakers are just beginning to offer features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth as options, Hyundai has offered its compatibility features standard for years.
What can owners do with Apple CarPlay?
Apple CarPlay allows Apple iPhone and device users to do almost everything possible on the device, in your Santa Fe. According to Apple, “CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your iPhone while you drive.” Using Apple CarPlay in your Santa Fe turns its display into an iPhone-like device that lets you access all the functions you would use on your iPhone. It syncs your Apple smartphone, vehicle display, and controls together, “so you can use them while your eyes and hands stay where they belong.”
New Santa Fe owners can take advantage of Siri voice control as well as a myriad of apps through the touchscreen display. Apple CarPlay allows you to access your contacts, messages, navigation, and even personal files like music. Those with compatible devices can make/take calls and messages, check calendars and weather, and get turn-by-turn directions from Siri. But there’s also a ton of other apps users can access, even supporting apps developed by rival Google.
What to expect on the inside of a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe
Hyundai has never been an automaker to slack on its interiors and tech features. Even a base-level Hyundai Santa Fe, the SE, comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen. The base SE also comes standard with USB outlets, a rearview monitor with parking guidance, Smart Cruise Control, 60/40 rear-seat access, and high-quality cloth seating.
Move away from the base Santa Fe and you’ll find more interior features, like leather seating, an eight-way power driver seat, heated seats, access to SiriusXM radio, a wireless device charging station, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 7-inch LCD informational display.
The upper Limited trim gets a standard 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, according to Hyundai. The highest trims also come with additional standard features like a leg cushion extension for the driver seat, ventilated seats, an integrated memory system, sliding second-row seats, premium audio system, surround-view monitor, and a head-up display.
All Hyundai Santa Fe models come standard with a suite of safety features in addition to Smart Cruise Control, like automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, and lane keep assist, according to U.S. News. Available features in upper trims include blind-spot monitoring, safe-exit assist, and a blind-view monitor.
Also included in most Santa Fe models (in every trim but the base SE) is Blue Link Connected Care and Remote packages and a three-year complimentary service that allows you to control functions of your vehicle from a smart device and receive on-demand diagnostics and alerts.
The highest Limited trim receives the Guidance package of Blue Link, which not only syncs all your navigation systems together but can even help you find your Santa Fe in the event you lose it, according to Hyundai.
