Does the 2020 Hyundai Sonata Have Android Auto?
The Hyundai Sonata is the automaker’s flagship midsize sedan, earning its great reputation for years. Providing more and more each year for the reasonable prices it’s known for, Hyundai strives to make your driving experience as integrated as possible. So what advanced tech is offered in the latest Hyundai Sonata?
Does the 2020 Hyundai Sonata offer Android Auto?
The latest 2020 Hyundai Sonata does come with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, but that should come as no surprise. That’s because Hyundai has provided Android Auto capabilities in the Sonata since Android Auto was even a thing.
According to Car and Driver, the 2015 Sonata was the “first car to hit the market with Android Auto,” and Hyundai offered it free to owners since day one. Offering standard tech features like Android Auto on all Sonatas for more than five years, Hyundai remains as one of the most influential in today’s technological expectations of the segment.
Though Android Auto comes standard through all 2020 Sonata’s infotainment systems, owners will need an Android smartphone that runs Android 5.0 or higher, as well as a carrier data plan, in order to use it. The Android Auto app must be running on your smartphone, when it connects to the Sonata via a Bluetooth connection.
Using Android Auto in your Hyundai Sonata
According to Hyundai, Android Auto allows you to “access your favorite apps through voice commands and touchscreen display” on the 2020 Sonata. Thought of as a remote way to control the most important parts of your phone, Android Auto gives you everything you need at the tip of a finger or sound of a command. Using Android Auto turns your infotainment system into an Android-focused display that pairs with the functions of your Sonata.
As Lifewire points out, Android Auto “can do pretty much anything that an Android phone can do on its own, but tweaked and find-tuned for an automotive setting.” T
hat means you’ll be able to access contacts, make phone calls, send messages, get turn-by-turn directions, listen to your favorite music, check the weather, and more. Android Auto also pairs with the functions of the Sonata, integrating control access.
The most tech-packed Sonata yet
Hyundai keeps setting the bar when it comes to standard features and bargain prices. Redesigned for the 2020 model year, the Sonata offers a long list of tech, convenience, and safety features at an affordable price.
According to Car and Driver, the all-new 2020 Hyundai Sonata is impressive, “remarkable to mid-size-sedan buyers for its many advanced tech features.”
Without increasing the price too much, Hyundai provides striking new looks, better fuel efficiency, and new standard safety/convenience features.
According to Hyundai, the new 2020 Sonata comes standard with a bigger, 8-inch LCD monitor and the SmartSense suite of safety tech that includes electronic parking brake, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic assist, forward collision assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-follow assist, driver attention warning, automatic high-beam assist, smart cruise control, and LED hidden lighting lamps.
In addition to being the first to have Android Auto, the new Sonata will also be the first to allow owners to save a “copy” of your key to your phone. According to Android Police, owners with Android smartphones will be able to download the Hyundai Digital Key app and control their car’s locks, truck, alerts, and more.
Storing a digital version of your key within your phone’s app, owners can use their phone to unlock doors by simply waving the phone in front of the door handle. Owners can even “create and share virtual car keys with up to four other drivers.” Hyundai Digital Key is currently only available for Android users.
