Does the 2022 Ford Mustang Have Only 2 Problems?
The 2022 Ford Mustang is one of the last iterations of the Blue Oval’s long-running resident pony car. However, it’s not all misty-eyed reverence; the 2022 Ford Mustang drops the ball in several capacities. For instance, some critics don’t care for the amount of standard features in the model’s Ford SYNC infotainment system. Check out what problems the Ford Mustang has compared to its dwindling segment’s competitors, like the Dodge Challenger.
Does the 2022 Ford Mustang have SYNC 4?
The 2022 Ford Mustang has an optional SYNC 3 infotainment system instead of the newer SYNC 4. However, the upcoming seventh-generation Mustang will have the SYNC 4 system aboard its new 13.2-inch center touchscreen.
However, U.S. News quickly points out that the 2022 model has infotainment issues. For instance, the entry-level, unupgraded models pack a diminutive 4.2-inch LCD screen with a six-speaker sound system. The standard equipment is a bit lackluster compared to the Dodge Challenger’s entry-level seven-inch touchscreen system.
Of course, owners who grab the keys to a Mustang with the Ford SYNC 3 system have a very different experience. For instance, the SYNC 3 has an eight-inch capacitive touchscreen, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Can 5 people fit in a Ford Mustang?
The 2022 Ford Mustang will seat four people, but less than comfortably. Furthermore, the Mustang’s back seat is much tighter than a comparable Dodge Challenger.
The cramped rear seating is one of the issues that U.S. News has with the pony car, which they call “tiny, even for smaller passengers.” As a result, a Challenger would be a better bet for a potential owner who plans on putting four people in their performance car. Of course, the Mustang offers a convertible from the factory. While fans can get a Dodge Challenger with a drop-top, they’ll have to stomach a steep price tag.
How big is the Ford Mustang trunk?
In addition to tight rear seats, the Ford Mustang’s trunk is smaller than a comparable Dodge Challenger. For instance, the 2022 Ford Mustang has around 13.5 cubic feet of cargo space for the coupe, while the much larger Mopar has about 16.2 cubic feet.
However, the Mustang offers more storage space than the Chevrolet Camaro. Specifically, the Camaro has a paltry 9.1 cubic feet of volume. It also has tight rear seats, like the Mustang.
What is there to like about the 2022 Ford Mustang?
The 2022 Ford Mustang does have plenty of redeeming features despite the space and infotainment problems. For instance, U.S. News quickly points out the Mustang’s powerful engine options, calling them “He-Man-Like.” They’re not wrong; the Coyote V8-powered GT produces 450 horsepower from its 5.0L mill.
Moreover, the entry-level EcoBoost produces 310 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine. That’s more than the thirstier Pentastar V6 in the Challenger SXT and GT. Further, if the EcoBoost’s 310 ponies aren’t enough, the four-cylinder ‘Stang offers a 330 horsepower High Performance option, just behind the Chevrolet Camaro’s 335-horsepower 3.6L V6 option, per TrueCar.
