Does the 2022 Kia Telluride Even Need Anything New?
The 2021 Kia Telluride model just keeps winning. Consumers and critics love it. In fact, it’s almost as if this Kia SUV can do no wrong. Does the 2022 Kia Telluride even need anything new?
According to Edmunds, the emerging 2022 Kia Telluride will release without any notable changes. It’s no wonder, really. The 2020 and 2021 models have been wildly successful. If it isn’t broken don’t fix it, right?
That said, there are perhaps some things that Kia could add or tweak to improve on the current Telluride model. As we move toward the 2022 Kia Telluride release date, let’s go over some of the features that make this Kia SUV so great. And while we are at it we can discuss what this three-row crossover SUV could get in addition to the near-perfect picture it already paints.
What features come standard on the 2021 Kia Telluride?
One of the reasons that this three-row crossover SUV is met with such positive praise is because it has such a long list of available and standard features. A fully loaded Kia Telluride is still a great buy at just over $40 grand, but the base model comes with so much standard equipment that it’s one of the best deals on the market. Not only does this Kia SUV have so many awesome features, but it also comes for less than nearly any other SUV with three rows.
So what comes standard for the 2021 Kia Telluride model? According to U.S. News and World Report, standard safety for the Telluride includes a full safety suite. These standard safety features include things like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
The 2021 Kia Telluride LX base model starts at $31,990. This Kia SUV has a V6 engine, an incredibly luxurious and quiet cabin. The standard infotainment is fully modern and included standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All-wheel drive is available even for the base model. This upgrade costs $2,000.
When does the 2022 Kia Telluride come out?
Kia has not yet given us a set date for the 2022 Kia Telluride debut. However, sources such as Edmunds and CarsDirect say we can expect to see the debut of this Kia SUV sometime this summer. Of course, we can also expect the 2022 Kia Telluride to come with the same features as the outgoing 2021 model year.
The 2021 Telluride didn’t change anything either, except for adding the 2021 Nightfall Edition Telluride. The 2022 Kia Telluride doesn’t really need to change anything. The only real issue with this three-row crossover SUV so far is a lack of supply to meet demand.
New features aren’t likely for this three-row crossover SUV
While the 2020 and 2021 Kia Telluride have a tame V6 engine that could benefit from the option of an upgrade, it’s likely that the 2022 Kia Telluride will run the same powertrain. Additionally, the one notable feature this Kia SUV was missing has been addressed in the 2021 model year. The 2021 Telluride now has a rear entertainment system available for $1,500.
The 2022 Kia Telluride may have a new appearance package, or perhaps a designated off-road trim. We certainly don’t expect a hybrid powertrain yet but with the Kia Sorento redesign, it’s easy to think that it’s not far off. Overall, however, the 2022 Kia Telluride really doesn’t need anything new. It’s great as it is and we doubt anyone is going to be mad about a new Telluride model year without notable changes.
