Get to know the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV

The all-electric 2023 Chevy Bolt EV is a subcompact car that suits city life. With the Bolt, Chevy has helped usher in an era of affordable all-electric vehicles. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV’s starting price is only $25,600. Chevy slashed the MSRP by $5,900 from last year’s model to provide an incentive for consumers. 

The price of the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV, coupled with the fact that the model can run for 259 miles on a single charge, really provides consumers with more bang for their buck. In addition, the 2023 model is available in two trims. The 1LT starts at $25,600. The 1LT trim features 17-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, heated side mirrors, keyless entry/start, remote start, an 8.0-inch driver information display, single-zone automatic climate control, programmable Teen Driver key, and cloth upholstery, according to Kelley Blue Book.

In comparison, the 2LT trim is a bit pricier, starting at $28,800. However, with the higher price comes more features. They include perforated leather seating surfaces, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 360-degree camera system, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a self-dimming rearview mirror. 

Does the Chevy Bolt EV have Super Cruise?

Just as technology has given rise to all-electric vehicles, it has also given way to Super Cruise functionality. Super Cruise is an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS)that allows for hands-free driving in certain situations, according to Chevrolet. Super Cruise uses adaptive cruise control that automatically maintains a driver-selected distance from the detected vehicle in front. 

It also features enhanced automatic emergency braking, which uses radar to help drivers avoid or reduce the severity of front-end collisions. In addition, Super Cruise has lane-centering, detecting road curves via real-time cameras, sensors, and GPS. Overall, Super Cruise is an excellent feature for drivers looking for more automation. 

Unfortunately, Super Cruise is not yet available on the Chevy Bolt EV. However, the 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV — the crossover SUV version — offers Super Cruise for its range-topping Premier trim, starting at $31,700. Though the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV does not offer Super Cruise, it comes standard with many ADAS features in the Chevy Safety Assist package.    

Key features of the Chevy Safety Assist package 

Although hands-free driving is not yet available with the Chevy Bolt EV, this hatchback still provides advanced features through the Chevy Safety Assist package. All 2023 Chevy Bolt EV trims include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. 

Along with these great features, the Chevy Safety Assist package has lane-change warning, side blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist. Those features are standard on the 2LT trim and available on the 1LT. Plus, the HD rear-vision camera is standard on the 1LT, and HD surround vision, which includes HD rear vision camera, is a standard feature on the 2LT. In addition, adaptive cruise control is available on 2LT. 

Overall, the Chevy Safety Assist package, combined with the many features outlined above, makes the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV an attractive all-electric vehicle for commuters.
