Still, some high-end vehicles neglect to include consumer must-haves, such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. (Porsche is one example of a luxury brand that hasn’t always included those amenities.) What is Apple CarPlay?

Apple CarPlay is a feature that allows an iPhone to connect to a compatible car’s infotainment system. It lets drivers use their favorite apps, such as iTunes or Google Maps, without taking their hands off the wheel or eyes off the road.  

There are two ways to connect CarPlay: standard and wireless. The standard way requires a lightning cable to connect an iPhone to a vehicle’s infotainment system. On the other hand, wireless Apple CarPlay doesn’t use a cable. 

Apple recently announced a major update to CarPlay accompanying iOS 16, expected to roll out in 2023. The upgrades will allow CarPlay to interact with many more aspects of a car’s operating system to display critical information, such as speed and fuel level. Users will even be able to control the cabin temperature with CarPlay. 

Does the 2023 Genesis GV60 have Apple CarPlay?

The Genesis GV60 online configurator reveals that Apple CarPlay is standard, meaning you won’t need to plunk down more money to enjoy it. However, there’s a slight catch: The GV60 comes with standard Apple CarPlay, not the wireless version. So get ready to plug in that lightning cable to attach your phone to your new luxury SUV. 

What other tech features does the 2023 Genesis GV60 have?

Apple CarPlay is only one of numerous infotainment and tech features in the Genesis GV60. For example, Genesis brags that “the GV60 is the first Genesis model to apply a next-generation infotainment system, ccIC (connected car Integrated Cockpit), which links clusters and navigation into a panoramic display while seamlessly connecting content throughout clusters, navigation, and HUD [head-up display].”

Then there are impressive features such as Face Connect, allowing the vehicle to recognize a driver’s face and automatically adjust multiple settings accordingly. Similarly, a fingerprint authentication system allows a recognized driver to start the car without a key, make in-car payments, and release valet mode. 

And as if those bells and whistles weren’t enough, the Digital Key 2 system lets drivers enter and start the 2023 GV60 simply by touching the door. Up to three people can share the digital key.

As a luxury brand, Genesis knows how to make the driving experience seamless, and the integration of ApplePlay and other tech features into the GV60 is yet another example. This all-electric SUV is shaking up the luxury SUV world.
