The heavy-duty version of the Chevy Silverado may not sell as well as the regular Silverado does, but the Silverado HD is still a powerful and formidable work truck. That said, despite being a great workhorse, the Silverado HD has plenty of premium features. Here’s everything you need to know about the Silverado HD’s tech features.

The Silverado HD’s standard features

The Silverado HD’s tech features are very similar to the regular Silverado’s interior features, though there are some differences. For example, the Silverado HD also comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen display system that is compatible with Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay. Many Chevy and GM trucks and cars are compatible with Android Auto as long they’re from relatively recent model years.

While the Silverado HD is compatible with Android Auto, Consumer Reports did note that phone pairing was a hassle. Android Auto is not the same thing as phone pairing, though they are somewhat similar. Consumer Reports says that the only way that owners of Android phones can connect their Android to the Silverado HD is through the truck’s Bluetooth system, which is standard.

That said, Consumer Reports mentions that iPhone users will have a similar issue. Furthermore, in terms of screens, the Silverado HD will come with a standard 3.5-inch driver information display. The Silverado HD also comes with standard USB ports and power windows. Notably, power windows are only an option for the regular Silverado, according to U.S. News.

Chevy also says that a six-speaker stereo system is standard on the Silverado HD. This is notably larger than the two-speaker stereo system that’s standard on the regular Silverado. But, like the regular Silverado, the interior of the Silverado HD may suffer from being too large. This can make it difficult to actually reach over and use the features that the Silverado HD offers.

The Silverado HD is an inherently more powerful and more expensive truck than the regular Silverado is, so while the Silverado HD has a lot more standard features, its options are more limited than what the regular Silverado offers. That said, there are a handful of trims available for the Silverado HD. For instance, the more expensive trim of the Silverado HD has a standard 8-inch touchscreen display.

The more expensive Silverado HD trims also come standard with a WiFi hotspot as well as a slightly larger 4.2-inch driver information display. Furthermore, the more expensive Silverado HD trims come with a standard Bose stereo system that replaces the six-speaker stereo system of the standard Silverado HD.

The Silverado HD’s smart safety features

While the Silverado HD is meant to be a big workhorse, it’s also a very safe truck as well. Some of these smart safety features come standard with the Silverado HD, while others are standard on the more expensive trims of the truck. For example, like the regular Silverado, the Silverado HD comes standard with a teen driver system that allows the truck to be safe for teens to drive.

However, the more expensive trims of the Silverado HD has standard smart safety features such as lane departure warning, forward collision detection, and a front and rear parking assist system. That said, none of those features are available on the standard Silverado HD.

Other smart safety or convenience features that are standard or at least available across all trims of the Silverado HD include a tire pressure monitoring system, power door locks, and keyless entry. Overall, the Silverado HD’s smart safety features aren’t all too different from what Chevy is offering on the regular Silverado.
