Does the Chevrolet Silverado Have Apple CarPlay?
Since the very beginning, Chevrolet designed their trucks with their customers in mind. They tweak their motors and transmissions to optimize a truck’s performance, so die-hard Chevy pickup fans won’t get disappointed. Technology features are no different. Chevy continues to offer the latest in technological equipment as they develop new features for their vehicles.
Now that we’re in an age where our phones seem indispensable, pickups are getting on board and finding innovative ways to integrate them into the truck’s technology. One of the recent features making a splash in the market is the Apple CarPlay application that’s merged into the vehicle’s infotainment system. Is the Silverado one of those that offer this fairly new feature?
What is Apple CarPlay, and does the Chevrolet Silverado come with it?
Apple CarPlay is an integrative connective technology that allows iPhone users to connect to the vehicle’s infotainment system. You can access the apps on your phone from the media display screen, so you can customize your riding experience with apps you’re more familiar with.
People often use it to listen to their favorite podcasts, play their personalized music playlists or send messages to other friends and family.
The Chevrolet Silverado comes standard with the capability to access wireless Apple CarPlay by connecting an iPhone to the truck’s infotainment system, using Apple’s phone cord. You’re able to sign in to the CarPlay app to use the features of your phone without taking your eyes off the road or the steering wheel for too long. However, General Motors doesn’t offer a wireless way to connect the iPhone to your truck’s media display. You have to use the cord.
Will Chevy Silverado keep wireless Apple CarPlay?
The new Chevrolet Silverado will continue to feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. But the 2024 GM electric vehicle will no longer offer wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The vehicles that currently have it are safe.
This move is being made in an attempt to make the EVs smarter, and they are gaining the new Ulitfi software platform. This will allow the vehicles to accept over-the-air updates. Plus, GM can constantly improve the user experience.
Most people are surprised by this decision because Apple CarPlay/Android Auto has become an industry standard. However, Tesla and Rivian don’t offer this connectivity option, and they’re doing just fine.
What other Connective features does the Silverado have?
The Chevy Silverado comes with its famous in-vehicle Marketplace system. You can order food from restaurants, navigate to your destination, or even find the nearest gas station, with your choice of fuel, all within GM’s new application.
While this system has few businesses integrated into the app, at this time, they plan to keep expanding and adding new ones frequently in the next few years.
Plus, the Chevy Silverado system is run by Google. It features a lot of familiar Google options, including it’s voice assistant. The voice commands are fast, effective, and easily understood.
The Silverado also has the 4G LTE WiFi hotspot available, with a prepaid plan. Your passengers can access the internet to play games, read books, or watch movies to pass the time while you travel to your destination. Business owners and contractors can handle their everyday work tasks by setting up meetings or bidding on potential projects while they’re on the go.
The Chevrolet Silverado has the connectivity features that modern drivers and passengers need in a pickup truck. Apple’s CarPlay is one of them, and it’s a sight most iPhone users want to see.
Hopefully, though, General Motors will take this application to the next level soon, so they can enjoy access to their personal items using a wireless connection instead of having to plug in their phone.
