Does the Chevrolet Suburban Have a Nice Interior?
SUVs are designed to transport a lot of passengers, which means the interiors have a lot of space for everything they may need to transport. However, some SUVs have better features than others. But the interior of the Chevrolet Suburban has been described by critics as both stylish and functional.
The 2021 Suburban was just announced, along with many photos of its new interior. You can check them out in Chevy’s detailed press release on both the Tahoe and the Suburban. Judging by the pictures, it looks like the new Suburban’s interior should be even more upscale than the last.
Seat quality
Cloth upholstery is standard in the Suburban, with leather seating in pricier trims. In all models, both the driver and front passenger seats are highly adjustable. The seats can be heated, ventilated, and come with memory foam inside. Tri-zone climate control is also standard.
The Suburban can seat a maximum of nine people. The legroom in both the second and third rows was increased for the new model to accommodate both adult and child passengers. Cargo space was also expanded so that you can stow more items in the back. According to Chevy, the Suburban has the most cargo space and legroom of any current SUV.
Infotainment setup
Even in the lowest trim, technology offerings are plentiful. Smartphone connectivity is standard, as well as a Wi-fi hotspot. USB ports and a traditional power outlet are included to charge any kind of device. The infotainment screen has been upgraded from 8 to 10 inches.
Either a six-speaker, nine-speaker, or ten-speaker Bose audio system is available depending on the trim. With the rear-seat media package, you get two more touchscreens for the second-row passengers. An additional touchscreen for the third row is included in the Premier trim. The Premier also offers a Blu-ray player.
Safety features
A lot of driver’s assistance features are included on the base trim. The Teen Driver system is standard, a good option for families with young drivers. Other important features like pedestrian braking, rear parking sensors, and a backup camera are also included.
In more expensive trims, like the new High Country, you can get additional features like lane keeping assistance and rear pedestrian alert. The available HD Surround camera features nine different angles, including one for trailer blind spots. A 15-inch head-up display is also available.
Ride quality
The interior of the current Chevrolet Suburban is definitely spacious and comfortable. However, some critics noted that it doesn’t drive as smoothly as its rivals. According to Edmunds, the vehicle was only easy to handle on smooth pavement. They also cited the high cargo floor as a general hassle for loading and unloading.
Chevrolet evidently listened to these concerns. For the 2021 model year, a new multilink rear suspension has been added. It can be paired with both magnetic ride control and air ride adaptive control. This will also make loading and unloading cargo much easier. With the adaptive suspension, drivers can adjust the SUV’s height by up to 4 inches.
What else is new for the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban?
A new engine was also added to the lineup for 2021. It’s a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine capable of 277 hp. The existing V8 engines were also updated to be more fuel-efficient.
The new Duramax engine will also improve the Suburban’s towing capability. The optional Max Trailering package now has even more features. These include hitch guidance, a high-capacity cooling fan, and a more advanced trailer brake controller. The current Suburban was already a top-notch SUV, so we’re interested to see how the new features affect its interior.
