While Ford is concentrating heavily on its trucks, Ford still has a lot of great SUVs to offer to Americans. One of the best SUVs that Ford has on the market is the Edge. Here’s everything that’s included in the interior of the Edge.

The Ford Edge’s standard features

U.S. News reports the Edge has a lot of standard features. The centerpiece of the Edge’s interior is its standard 8-inch touchscreen display. This 8-inch touchscreen is connected to Ford’s SYNC 3, Ford’s system for connecting smart devices to Ford cars. Because of that, the Edge does come standard with Apple CarPlay compatibility. The Edge also is compatible with Android Auto as well as Amazon Alexa as standard.

That said, U.S. News says many car reviewers thought that the Edge’s infotainment system wasn’t as good as its competitors. For example, Kelley Blue Book said that while the Edge’s touchscreen was easy to use, its competitors offered bigger and better looking touchscreens that were more easy to use.

On top of that, the standard Edge comes with a satellite radio, a WiFi hotspot, two USB ports, and a six-speaker stereo system. Additionally, Ford offers a dual-zone automatic climate control system as well as a proximity keyless entry system as standard on the Edge, according to U.S. News.

The Ford Edge’s optional features

While the standard Edge has a lot going for it, Ford offers a lot more for people looking to upgrade their Edge. Some of these options include fancy features such as automatic-dimming rearview mirrors, a panoramic roof, and a household-style power outlet. Other more practical options include a navigational system, a universal garage door opener, and remote start capability

The infotainment system of the Edge also has optional upgrades, though Ford doesn’t offer any options that include a larger touchscreen. One of these upgrades includes the addition of a rear-seat entertainment system. Other options upgrade the size and quality of the Edge’s sound system. For instance, U.S. News says that there are options for a nine-speaker stereo system or a 12-speaker stereo system.

The Ford Edge’s smart safety features

Like many of the latest Fords, the Edge comes with Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 suite of smart safety features. With the help of these features, the Edge was able to get Ford’s first Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety in the 2019 model year.

There are a lot of standard smart safety features on the Edge. U.S. News says that Ford offers forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure alert, lane keep assist, a rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, smart rain-sensing windshield wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights among other smart safety features.

On top of all that, Ford offers its MyKey system which is geared towards making Fords safer for teen drivers. Ford’s MyKey system allows the owner of the car to set a speed and volume limit on the car for other drivers. As a result, teens driving the Edge can learn how to drive safely and comfortably.

Furthermore, Ford offers a lot of other optional safety features on the Edge. While rear parking sensors are standard, front parking sensors are not, and Ford offers those at a premium. Additionally, Ford offers a 180-degree parking camera system as well as an automatic parking assist system, according to U.S. News.

Other smart safety features, such as adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, adaptive headlights, and lane centering assist are also options on the Edge. Taken as a whole, these smart safety features along with the Edge’s performance in crash tests allow U.S. News to give the Edge a 9.8 out of 10 for safety.
