What is Apple CarPlay?

The last decade has seen the emergence of some really exciting automotive technology. With collaborations between automakers and technology companies, highly useful apps and connectivity features are being developed and added to vehicle infotainment systems. Thanks to this emerging technology, you can navigate with greater convenience and safety. You can enjoy an expanding pool of entertainment too.

The 2020 Honda Civic offers Apple CarPlay within their infotainment systems. It blends seamlessly with the onboard system to provide you with a lot of entertaining and useful features for all your travels. Apple CarPlay adds great safety features including the use of your iPhone navigation system, access to Siri using voice commands, and the ability to make hands-free calls. 

Want to listen to your favorite playlists or podcasts? You can do that and play them right there on your Civic’s audio system while you’re on the road. Many iPhone apps are available on your Civic’s 7.0-inch infotainment screen with more to come. The newest version of Apple CarPlay is easier than ever to use.  

Apple’s CallKit framework is supported by apps like Facebook and Skype. It allows incoming calls from such services to be handled like the iOS built-in Phone app at the lock screen. That same framework works with CarPlay too, so calls over messaging apps can be handled safely while driving just like normal calls.

The 2020 Honda Civic

The new 2020 Honda Civic is practical, fun to drive, and offers a lot of customization options. You can have a Civic that’s a coupe, sedan, or a hatchback. Each is attractive, efficient, and affordable for a great value.

The Honda Civic’s base engine along with the available turbocharged engine both get great gas mileage and are peppy. There’s a choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). 

Since both the coupe and sedan were updated in 2019, there weren’t any changes for 2020 models. The hatchback got freshened up for 2020 with new styling touches, new features, and some trim level adjustments.

There are new front and rear bumpers on the 2020 hatchback models along with a new grille, headlights, and wheels. The interior isn’t significantly different aside from a welcome reduction in noise. There’s now a 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system in the Sport hatchback which has not only Apple CarPlay but Android Auto too.  

The hatchback models also get keyless entry and push-button start. You can now get the six-speed manual transmission with not only the Sport hatchback but also with the Sport Touring model. There’s now a power-adjustable driver’s seat in the EX hatchback.

Technology features in the Honda Civic

The addition of a volume knob for the audio system will make many happy as will the hard buttons for other key functions. The infotainment system is improved and includes navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio. There are two USB ports at the front with a single 12-volt outlet included as well. Unfortunately, there are no such connectivity ports in the rear. 

With wide appeal, the new 2020 Honda Civic, already near the top of its class, is only made better with the addition of Apple CarPlay.
