Does the Jeep Compass Have Apple CarPlay?
Jeep has a lot of trucks and SUVs on the market, and all of them are pretty good. The Jeep Compass is Jeep’s leading compact SUV, and it has features that are typical for a Jeep. Here’s a look inside the interior of the Compass.
The Jeep Compass’s standard features
As U.S. News reports, the Compass comes standard with a 7 inch touchscreen display. This touchscreen is connected to Jeep’s own Uconnect infotainment system. Through Uconnect, the Compass is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen and the Uconnect system were both praised by car reviewers.
Sites such as Edmunds and Car and Driver both loved how simple and smooth the Compass’s infotainment system was. They said that the touchscreen itself was effortless to use and also very crisp-looking. On top of that, the Compass has physical buttons that allow less tech-savvy people to make use of its infotainment systems.
The Compass also comes standard with other features, such as a six-speaker stereo system, Bluetooth compatibility, two USB ports, a push-button start system, and dual-zone automatic climate control, according to U.S. News. However, U.S. News also points out that one of the main flaws with the Compass’s standard features was the fact that there weren’t many charging ports.
The Jeep Compass’s optional features
As with any other car, Jeep offers plenty of additional features or upgrades to the Compass. Instead of a 7-inch touchscreen, customers can get an 8.4-inch touchscreen instead. Unlike the Jeep Grand Cherokee though, this 8.4-inch touchscreen doesn’t come with a navigation system built into it. However, a navigation system as a separate option is available for the Compass.
On top of that, U.S. News says that Jeep is offering two different premium sound system upgrades for the Compass. One is a nine-speaker stereo system and the other is a stereo system from Beats. If you want to listen to the radio with those speakers, Jeep also offers HD radio and satellite radio as options on the Compass.
Other features that Jeep offers on the Compass include a sunroof, proximity keyless entry, and remote start capability. Remote start in particular is a great feature for winters as owners of the Compass can start up and heat up their Compass before getting into it.
The Jeep Compass’s smart safety features
When it comes to the interior features of the Compass, this is where the Compass falls short. According to U.S. News, Jeep only has a rearview camera as a standard safety feature on the Compass. This really isn’t a feature as it’s legally required for all new cars to have a rearview backup camera.
Other comparable SUVs, like U.S. News reports, will have far more standard safety features than the Compass will have. This puts the Compass at a disadvantage, but Jeep does offer a lot of smart safety features as options on the Compass.
These optional smart safety features include systems that are great at preventing crashes, such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. U.S. News also says that Jeep offers some smart features that improve safety in certain situations, such as rear parking sensors, smart windshield wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Jeep also offers other smart safety features, such as lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring. Once again, all of these smart safety features are options, and that drags down the overall safety of the Compass as its owners will have to pay a premium for safety.
That said, U.S. News did give the Compass a higher safety score than it did for its interior. U.S. News gave the Compass’s interior a 7.1 out of 10 while its safety got a score of 8.8 out of 10.
