Mazda owners love their CX-9, and for good reason. Mazda is known for making great cars that take things like safetyseriously. The Mazda CX-9’s interior features and safety systems is a testament to that. Here’s a look at everything that Mazda offers on the CX-9.

The Mazda CX-9’s standard features

The centerpiece of the CX-9’s standard interior features is its 7-inch touch screen, according to U.S. News. However, Mazda also matches that touch screen with a lot of physical controls and that makes the CX-9’s touch screen very easy to use. On top of that, Mazda designed the CX-9’s touch screen with safety in mind. As a result, U.S. News mentions that the CX-9’s touch screen and physical controls are placed in such a way that you don’t have to take your eyes off the road in order to use them. 

With that said, U.S. News also reports that the CX-9 does not come standard with Android Auto nor does it come standard with Apple CarPlay integration. Instead, the CX-9’s infotainment system is integrated with apps such as Pandora, Aha, and Stitcher as standard. That said, the CX-9 does have Bluetooth compatibility and it also has two USB ports as standard. Additionally, tri-zone automatic climate control and a push-button start system are also standard on the CX-9.

The Mazda CX-9’s optional features

U.S. News reports that for the first time ever, the 2019 model year of the CX-9 will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration as a part of Mazda’s upgraded infotainment offerings. Other infotainment upgrades that Mazda offers on the CX-9 include an 8-inch touch screen, a navigation system, and a premium 12-speaker stereo system that can be paired with satellite radio, an HD radio, or both. 

Other optional features include, according to U.S. News, a surround-view monitoring system, smart rain-sensing windshield wipers, a proximity key entry system, a 7-inch LCD driver’s display system, and a sunroof. Furthermore, Mazda also offers additional USB ports and rear climate controls on the CX-9.

The Mazda CX-9’s smart safety features

Although some Mazdas are known for having terrible drivers, Mazda still tries to keep its drivers safe by offering a lot of smart safety features on its cars as both standard features as well as optional features. For example, U.S. News says that the CX-9 comes standard with a low-speed automatic emergency braking system called Smart City Brake Support that’s perfect for city driving. The CX-9 also has blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as standard.

In terms of optional smart safety features, Mazda has a lot to offer for owners of the CX-9. U.S. News reports that the CX-9 can come equipped with: adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, a smart traffic sign recognition system, automatic high-beam headlights as well as adaptive headlights. 

On top of that, Mazda also has two unique optional smart safety systems that combine multiple smart technologies together to deliver even more safety. The first one is Smart Brake Support, which U.S. News says combines a forward-collision warning system with an automatic emergency braking system. 

The second optional smart safety system is the Advanced Smart City Brake Support. This system combines a forward-collision warning system, an automatic emergency system, and a pedestrian detection system. Advanced Smart City Brake Support is an upgrade over the CX-9’s standard Smart City Brake Support system and it’s designed to make the CX-9 even safer in cities than normal.

These great standard and optional smart safety features helped the CX-9 score well in its safety tests. U.S. News gave the CX-9 a 9.5 out of 10 for safety when taking its crash tests into consideration.
