Does the Nissan Murano Have Android Auto?
The 2020 Nissan Murano may not provide an exciting driver experience, according to Car and Driver, but it does have a more luxurious interior and exterior design than most other mid-size crossovers available. But does the Nissan Murano’s upscale environment include Android Auto?
Android Auto
Google developed the Android Auto vehicle infotainment software to let drivers use in-car technology in a hands-free way. The software makes the touchscreen function like an Android phone’s menu. It offers access to many of the same apps, including the Google Maps navigation app, which stays up to date and is able to access destinations saved in the phone.
Drivers are also able to play the songs and podcasts from their phone as well as make phone calls and send out texts. Android Auto includes Google Assistant, which works through verbal commands. The driver can say “Hey, Google” before then making a request or asking a question. The Google Assistant can find a location, play a song, check the weather, and perform other functions. It also helps out when the driver wants to reply to a text verbally.
Android Auto is compatible with a number of phone apps in addition to Google Maps. That includes Waze, Skype, Pandora, and Spotify. It functions in all Android phones running 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher as long as the phone also has the Android Auto app. Phones running Android 10 don’t need a separate app. While some phones and vehicles support wireless Android Auto, it’s recommended to use a USB cable to plug in the phone.
2020 Nissan Murano infotainment system
All trim levels of the 2020 Murano come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and are compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system also has its own navigation plus available SiriusXM with Travel Link weather and traffic updates.
Tech offered in the Murano
2020 Murano drivers can access NissanConnect Services through their phones, smartwatches, and other devices. They can use Google Assistant to remotely access the vehicle and lock or unlock the Murano’s doors, flash the lights, or start the engine. Using Amazon Alexa™ provides similar functions. The NissanConnect Services app can also provide emergency calling and roadside assistance.
The Murano features even more technology. Drivers can select what to display on the seven-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display, picking from turn-by-turn directions, caller ID, safety features, and more. Also available is the Motion Activated Liftgate. Putting a foot under the rear bumper opens the liftgate. The Murano comes with USB-A and USB-C ports, and two are located on the backside of the center console for easy access by passengers in the rear seats.
Safety features
The high-tech safety options have been increased on the 2020 Murano. The Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of safety and driver-assist features is now available on all trim levels. It’s an option on the S trim and standard on the SV, SL, and Platinum trims. Nissan Safety Shield includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and high beam assist.
Turning on the Rear Door Alert system prevents drivers from forgetting something in the backseat, whether a child or a pet. The system provides a visual and audible alert as a reminder. The alert is activated when a rear door is opened within ten minutes of driving. The SV trim also comes with standard adaptive cruise control, heated exterior mirrors, and rear parking sensors. The SL trim has traffic-sign recognition.
This attractive and comfortable crossover does have Android Auto. The 2020 Nissan Murano also includes a good selection of the tech and safety features high on buyers’ lists.
