Nissan is known for making great cars that many Americans love. Nissan’s vehicles can compete with the best trucks and SUVs that American automakers have to offer. This is also true with the Nissan Pathfinder, which is Nissan’s mid-size crossover SUV with third-row seats. Here’s everything you need to know about what the Nissan Pathfinder offers.

The Nissan Pathfinder’s standard features 

As U.S. News reports, the Pathfinder comes standard with an 8-inch touch screen display. However, Nissan does not offer Apple CarPlay nor does it offer Android Auto compatibility as either standard or optional features on the Pathfinder. The Pathfinder’s touch screen was also called dated in terms of its graphics, and Edmunds gave the interior of the Nissan SUV a bad review partially due to its lack of Apple CarPlay integration.

But, other reviewers, like Kelley Blue Book and Consumer Guide, both praised the Pathfinder’s infotainment system for being easy to use. That’s in part because Nissan put a lot of physical controls on the Pathfinder’s center console, and those physical controls made it very easy to reach over and control the Pathfinder’s infotainment system. On top of that, Consumer Guide, in particular, said that the Pathfinder’s controls were easy to reach as well as easy to read, which means that the Pathfinder is very user-friendly. 

And, the Pathfinder does have other standard features to make up for its lack of smartphone integration. U.S. News says that the Pathfinder has Bluetooth compatibility, six USB ports, and a six-speaker stereo system that’s hooked up with both an HD radio and a satellite radio as standard. Furthermore, the Pathfinder also has a tri-zone automatic climate control system, push-button start, and a remote keyless entry system as standard.

The Nissan Pathfinder’s optional features

While Apple CarPlay and Android Auto aren’t optional features on the Pathfinder, Nissan does have other things to offer its customers. These features, according to U.S. News, include infotainment upgrades as well as convenience upgrades. 

For example, Nissan offers a navigation system, a premium 13-speaker stereo system, and a rear-seat entertainment system on the Pathfinder. On top of that, a remote start system and a proximity keyless entry system are also options on the Pathfinder. 

The Pathfinder also has a lot of cargo space available that’s accessible through an optional hands-free power liftgate, according to U.S. News. This powered liftgate gives convenient access to the Pathfinder’s 16.2 cu. ft. of cargo space with no seats folded, 47.4 cu. ft. of cargo space with its third-row seats folded, and 79.5 cu. ft. of cargo space with its second and third-row seats folded. 

The Nissan Pathfinder’s smart safety features

Unlike the Nissan Frontier, which is a Nissan pickup truck that doesn’t have many standard features, the Pathfinder has modern smart safety features as both standard and as options, according to U.S. News. The standard Pathfinder comes equipped with automatic emergency braking, a forward-collision warning system, as well as rear parking sensors. 

On top of that, Nissan has plenty of smart safety options for Pathfinder owners. U.S. News says that these optional smart safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, a rear-cross traffic alert system, and a surround-view parking camera system. 

While the interior of the Pathfinder didn’t get good ratings, in part due to its lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, the safety features on the Pathfinder were praised by safety institutions. For example, U.S. News reports that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Pathfinder “good” ratings in most of its crash tests. 

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also gave the Pathfinder a 5 out of 5 rating for its overall safety in its crash test. These crash test results, combined with the smart safety features that Nissan offers on the Pathfinder, allowed U.S. News to give the Pathfinder a 9.2 out of 10 for safety.
