The 2019 Nissan Titan hit the market with unusually high praise for its modern safety features and technology. While it has previously struggled to compete with other full-size pickups, the Titan was actually rated the third best new pickup of 2020 by Consumer Reports.

It also received accolades from MotorTrend, who indicated that the vehicle is much closer to competing with the top truck manufacturers. Fans of Apple technology will be pleased to know that the 2020 Titan offers an 8-inch screen with infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay on all trims.

Apple CarPlay Features

Apple CarPlay is a vehicle infotainment system that allows you to connect to your iPhone while you drive. The system allows the user to control features using both Siri voice control and built-in vehicle controls. The idea behind CarPlay easy access to phone features, so the user need not look away from the road in order to control music, answer and return phone calls, or follow directions. 

The system has been designed specifically to be compatible with vehicle controls, so you can view your songs, maps, and calendared appointments on the Titan’s built-in touchscreen. The system also fully integrates Siri voice control, which allows you to voice request business searches, ask for directions, send and receive calls, and listen to your voicemail all with voice commands, without taking your hands off the wheel.

Safety Features and Improvements

In addition to the modern infotainment system, Nissan has added some features to the 2020 model that helps bring it up to speed with the competition. For individuals without Apple technology, the system offers Bluetooth and Android Auto compatibility. Nissan has also ensured that the vehicle can receive software and security updates via over-the-air transmissions through their Nissan Connect feature. 

Standard trim now comes with enhanced safety features, including automatic emergency brakes, warning features for lane departure, rear cross-traffic, and blind spot motion detection. This is in addition to their previous portfolio of safety features, which included six airbags, dynamic and traction control systems, ABS, and tire pressure monitoring.

If you choose to upgrade to higher trims, you have the added infotainment options of a Fender stereo system with subwoofer and a 9-inch touchscreen. Optional enhanced safety features include tow and utility packages, a sunroof, heated rear seat options, a rear bed-step, and cargo lighting.

Moving On Up

Although the cutting edge infotainment and enhanced safety features are putting the 2020 Titan further ahead in the rankings, it still has a long way to go to catch up to industry leaders Chevy and Ford. Truck consumers may appreciate the Titan’s technological elements, but they will likely still opt for vehicles with high load-bearing capabilities and towing capacity. Sadly, the Titan does not have the power to compete with the top sellers in the American market, even with its new 5.6-liter standard engine. 

Even though it may not beat out the highest truck manufacturers for towing and load capacity, the 2020 Titan still comes across as a solid investment. If you are looking for a full-size truck for regular use that doesn’t require exceptionally high towing and load-bearing abilities, you can rely on the Titan for a comfortable and secure ride, with easy-to-use infotainment features that make it a pleasure to drive. The 2020 Nissan Titan may not have the power of the competition, but it does have Apple CarPlay and so much more.
