What is Android Auto?

 Android Auto is an app that was developed by Google to help drivers access their phones while still being able to keep their eyes on the road. With this app, drivers can easily connect their android devices to their vehicles to gain access to some of their favorite apps. 

Android Auto works by mirroring your phone’s screen and displaying it on the vehicle’s infotainment display. With this app, drivers can access several different apps including their phone, messaging apps, news apps, and access turn-by-turn Google Navigation app.  Because the goal is to help drivers keep their eyes on the road, YouTube and other video streaming apps are not compatible with Android Auto. However, if you are wanting to listen to a good story while you drive, you can access your audiobooks on Android Auto.

Because many people view Android Auto as a safety feature, many auto manufacturers started to equip their vehicles with Android Auto as early as 2014. Now, there are more than 500 different models in the U.S. that offer Android Auto.

Does the Ram 1500 have Android Auto?

Ram has offered Android Auto in its 1500s since 2018. Ram started to offer this system a little later than most other manufacturers offered the app, but in order to catch up with the other manufacturers, but we guess it’s better late than never.

If you have an Apple device instead of an Android, don’t worry, the Ram 1500 still has you covered. In addition to offering Android Auto, the Ram 1500 also has Apple CarPlay, which is pretty much the same thing as Android Auto but it is only compatible with Apple devices.

What other technological advances does the Ram 1500 come with?

 This year, the Ram 1500 has been redesigned to feature all-new technology. One of the most highly-anticipated features is the Ram’s Uconnect system that features an extra-large 12-inch touch screen display. The display comes equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. One of the things that are very convenient about the touchscreen display is the fact that it has split-screen capabilities that allow you to use two different apps at one time. With the split-screen engaged, you can listen to your favorite music while also using the Navigation system.

In addition to the largest-in-class infotainment display, the new Ram 1500 also has an available wireless charging system to help you charge your phone without worrying about getting tangled up in cords and wire. There is also a 7-inch digital instrument cluster that is fully-customizable and allows you to display the information that is most important to you.
