Does the Subaru Outback Have Apple CarPlay?
If you’re looking for a new car, odds are that you want something that will last you well into this new decade. Subaru is known for its long-lasting vehicles and customer loyalty, so there’s a good chance you can find a good fit with them.
The 2020 Subaru Outback, for example, is one of the highest-rated new vehicles on the road today. 2020 was a redesign year for the Outback, ensuring that you have all of the latest features inside and out. Let’s take a closer look at the 2020 Outback.
What’s new with the 2020 Outback?
The Outback has been a popular option for Subaru-lovers since it first hit the production line in the 90s. Since then, it’s gone through many changes. The latest model went through a redesign, giving drivers all of the latest in tech and comfort. A remodeled tablet-style 11.6-inch touchscreen is available that is larger and easier to use, an improvement on the previous standard touchscreen.
Also new for 2020 is the Onyx Edition XT, a trim option decked out with all of the latest in power and style. The Outback Onyx Edition XT is powered by a new 260-horsepower direct-injection turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine, which gets you 277 lb-ft of torque and 3,500 lb of towing capacity. Now that’s a powerful engine for a small SUV! Perfect for hitting the off-road.
Does the 2020 Outback have Apple CarPlay?
What’s going on tech-wise? The 2020 Outback seems like it has most of the latest popular features and, yes, it does have both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities in that new redesigned touchscreen control system. Accessible through Subaru’s STARLINK Multimedia integrated system, Apple CarPlay allows you to both use your phone in a safe and distraction-free manner while driving, and also lets you control your vehicle’s settings all using voice commands.
CarPlay allows you to access your phone’s saved data through your vehicle, letting you stay on top of your to-do lists while you’re in the car. You can access your saved locations in Apple Maps to get around quickly and efficiently, seeing your route on your Subaru’s touchscreen.
CarPlay lets you dictate and send text messages, send and receive phone calls, check your calendar or the score of a game, and you can even play any of your favorite saved playlists through Apple Music or Spotify. Features like Apple CarPlay are definitely going to start being standard in new vehicles very soon because they’re such a driver-favorite.
The 2020 Outback offers more technology than ever
New in 2019, Subaru has outfitted their Outbacks with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. EyeSight monitors traffic conditions in front of and around your vehicle, giving you more confidence than ever that you’ll get where you’re going safely. EyeSight will automatically adjust your cruise control speed, give you an alert if you begin to drift outside of your lane, and will activate pre-collision braking if it senses you’re about to encounter a collision. EyeSight has been proven to reduce the number of injuries from front-end collisions by 85%.
The 2020 Outback is also available with Subaru’s DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System. This safety system alerts the driver if it senses they’re distracted or drowsy, keeping you focused on the road and getting to your destination safely. It’s also the latest in convenience, offering you the ability to save five different drivers into its memory, giving you the ease of automatically setting your desired seat positions, temperature controls, and outside mirror positions.
The 2020 Outback offers much of the latest in convenience and safety and it’s clear that that’s what consumers are looking for in this new decade. So we’ll be sure to see more features like what Subaru’s offering with each new model year.
