Reasons to Hold off on Buying the Kia Telluride or Any of These Kia SUVs Right Now
Gone are the days of finding a good deal on a new car, truck, or SUV. One outlet rounded up some of the best sales this month, and these Kia sport utility vehicles did not make the list. If you don’t want to pay extra for the 2023 Kia Telluride right now, it might be best to wait.
Don’t buy the 2023 Kia Telluride right now unless you want to pay over MSRP
Consumer Reports offers helpful lists of vehicles on sale throughout the year. If you look hard, you might not find any Kia SUVs on sale this month. The 2023 Kia Telluride is never really on sale, thanks to its popularity. Most dealerships can add a markup to take advantage of low supply and high demand. Based on pricing, the 2023 Kia Telluride is 18% over MSRP in many places. With a range of $35,690 to $52,785, buyers can expect to pay an additional $6,000 or so on top of the MSRP.
Since gas prices were high over the summer, there was a big wave of buyers looking at electric vehicles and hybrids. Thanks to that shift, the 2023 Kia Sorento Hybrid surged in popularity. The Sorento is 18% over the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). With a base range of $36,590 to $42,390, some dealerships have added another $6,000 or more. It isn’t all bad news, though.
The Sorento is a green choice, thanks to the hybrid powertrain. It has plenty of driver assistance features to keep the whole family safe and offers a comfortable ride. Kia’s Sorento has room for seven passengers and comes with Kia’s legendary 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
Don’t buy the Kia Telluride or the Sportage Hybrid right now
With a range of $27,290 to $42,990, the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is a reasonably priced SUV. However, the Sportage has also been subject to an additional 18% markup. That low starting price could be the reason for the price jump since so many shoppers were hopping into Kia SUVs during the pandemic. While the 2023 Kia Telluride is one of the most popular options, many people are interested in other Kia vehicles.
Due to semiconductor chip shortages and other challenges, most automakers scrambled to keep up with demand. While some brands could not offer much inventory, Kia had plenty of cars, trucks, and SUVs to choose from. Kelley Blue Book says the average price of a new car in November 2022 was $48,681, which is still higher than some of the top-of-the-line Kia SUVs listed here. Dealerships have also listed the 2023 Kia Seltos, Rio, Soul, and Kia K5 over MSRP in many areas.
Here are some SUVs that are on sale right now
While these SUVs have plenty to offer buyers, it might be better to search around. Kia cars, SUVs, and minivans have similar features to other vehicles within those categories. In the SUV category, the 2023 Buick Encore GX Select with all-wheel drive and the 2023 Buick Envision Essence AWD are good options. The Encore has an MSRP of $29,300 but is 5% off in some areas, saving you $1,000 or more. That gets you into a brand new 2023 SUV with all-wheel drive for around $30,000.
The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox LT with 1LT AWD is another all-wheel drive option with a low MSRP of $29,300. With the 6% off in some areas, that’s another brand new sport utility vehicle for $30,000 and some change. Additionally, the 2023 Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury AWD and the 2023 GMC Acadia Denali AWD are excellent choices. These start at around $50,000 but have potential savings of $3,000.
If you don’t get the Kia Telluride or another Kia SUV right now, hopefully, prices will come down in the new year. If you need a new SUV, check out some of the deals the competition offers. You might be able to snag a 2022 model to get it off the lot before more 2023 versions come in.
