Hold on to your butts because Ram just dropped a ton of new truck information. The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger has you say Ram twice, and that’s because it’s like two trucks put together. However, don’t call the Ramcharger a hybrid or PHEV.

What is the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger?

The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger is the best of both truck worlds with electric and gas power. But unlike a hybrid truck, the gas engine isn’t paired with a battery system or electric motors. It’s part of a generator system instead.

Technically, the Ramcharger is an electric truck because it has an electric powertrain. But once you run out of range, the onboard generator kicks in. It’s powered by a 27-gallon 3.6-liter engine.

Stallantis estimates that the Ramcharger will provide about 690 miles of range. The electric engine is powered by a 92-kWh battery and provides roughly 145 miles of range when fully charged without using the generator.

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis explained that it’s not a PHEV. It’s a battery-electric truck with a high-speed charger. There’s no connection between the engine and the wheels because the generator is only there to charge the battery.

Once the charge is depleted, the vehicle is propelled by electric motors. It’s an answer to range anxiety and provides a bridge between gas-powered vehicles and fully electric options.

However, the biggest challenge could be getting consumers to fully understand what this truck does and how it’s different from PHEV vehicles.

How much power does the 2025 Ramcharger have?

The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger has 663 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque. Stellantis expects this truck to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds. It can tow up to 14,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,625 lbs.

This matches the towing capacity of the Ram 1500 REV, the fully electric model. Also, the gas-powered Ram 1500 can only tow up to 12,750 lbs and carries a payload of up to 2,300 lbs.

The Ramcharger is AWD, but when it’s not racing, and dual-axle traction isn’t needed, the front motor is automatically disconnected from the wheels to improve efficiency. Plus, the rear axle offers an electronic differential as needed.

With a DC-faster charger, you can replenish about 50 miles of range in roughly 10 minutes. Most people will probably use Level II chargers at home.

The Ramcharger name can be taken literally because this truck has bi-directional charging capabilities. It can be used as a mobile charging station with 7.2-kW max output for powering homes and recharging stranded EVs.

It’s accessible through the charging port or power panel on the cargo bed. It’s similar to the Ford F-150/Lightning Pro Power Onboard Generator.

How much will the Ram 1500 Ramcharger cost?

Official pricing for the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger hasn’t been released yet. But the 2025 Ram 1500 REV is pretty similar, despite being fully electric, and it’s expected to begin around $58,000.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning starts at $49,995. Also, the Ram 1500 REV Tungsten could take the price up to $100,000. The Ramcharger may cost less because it has a smaller battery pack. Also, it could have different trim levels.

You can reserve a Ramcharger preorder at RamRev.com for $100. The deposit will be refundable until you’re notified that the Ram REV and Ramcharger are available for preorder. These trucks should be available by the end of the year.

Are you getting in line for the Ram 1500 Ramcharger to take advantage of electric and gas power in a unique way? Or is this concept too wild?
