Yes, upgrading to the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is worth it if you want a massive SUV that oozes luxury. However, you can save with the slightly more practical Jeep Wagoneer. It may not be grand, but it’s still great.

You can get started in a Jeep Grand Wagoneer for about $87,845. The Jeep Wagoneer begins at about $68,845. That’s a $19,000 difference between starting prices! Also, we listed the MSRPs, so the prices do not include dealership markups or destination fees.

How does the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer perform?

You can think about the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer like the Chevy Tahoe and the Cadillac Escalade. The Escalade is much nicer and full of luxury features that aren’t offered with the Tahoe.

For the Wagoneer, there are differences in power. The regular Wagoneer features a 5.7-liter V8 mild hybrid engine with 392 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Wagoneer comes with a 6.4-liter V8 engine with 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque.

With the 6.4-liter engine, this massive SUV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about six seconds. But the regular Wagonner can make it to 60 mph in about 7.6 seconds. It’s not that far behind. Both models come with standard four-wheel drive, which is an excellent perk.

The Grand Wagoneer features an air suspension and adaptive dampers to smooth out the ride. However, it’s still noticeably hefty around turns. The regular Wagoneer has steel springs and load-leveling rear dampers.

Both options are available with the two-speed transfer case to enhance off-roading and towing. The Grand Wagoneer can tow up to 9,850 lbs, while the regular Wagoneer maxes out at 10,000 lbs.

If you’re concerned about gas, the Jeep Wagoneer gets an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and up to 22 mpg on the highway. This isn’t great, but it’s better than the Grand Wagoneer, which gets an EPA-estimated 13 mpg in the city and up to 18 mpg on the highway.

Does the Grand Wagoneer have better features?

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer holds its own against the Grand Wagoneer, considering they’re almost $20,000 apart in price. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer features luxury comforters like four-zone climate control, an outside-world canceling 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, and real wood trim.

However, both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer come with Nappa leather seats that are heated and ventilated. But the Wagoneer doesn’t get the 24-way power-adjustable seats with standard massagers.

A 10.1-inch touchscreen is standard in the Wagoneer, while the Grand Wagoneer comes with a 12.0-inch touchscreen. Both SUVs feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The second row of the Grand Wagoneer can be equipped with a 10.1-inch climate control screen.

So when it comes to the Jeep Wagoneer, consider what you want vs. what you need. If you want more luxury comfort and capability, upgrade to the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Otherwise, you can save thousands with the regular Wagoneer.
