Believe it or not, us auto journalists spend as much time watching YouTube as you do, and possibly even more so. And while we spend hours clicking through different videos and checking out what other websites and fellow journalists are covering (for the sake of being supportive, of course), we always happen upon some channels that are sometimes misinformative and others that are just downright annoying. As such, we put together a list of a few channels that we would suggest not wasting your time watching.

Supercar Blondie

Alexandra Hirschi, otherwise known as Supercar Blondie, hails from the “land down under” and blesses her YouTube viewers with video presentations of exotics and supercars from all over the globe. And while we applaud her presentation skills and super blonde hair, we get the feeling that her channel is more “show” than “go.” OK, so we get that it’s more of a lifestyle-oriented channel, however, it’s too hard not to notice the obvious façade that she’s doing it more for looks and likes as opposed to giving out pertinent information. You know, like a real auto journalist.

Matt Maran Motoring

We almost feel bad for this one because Matt seems like a genuinely nice guy, however, his delivery is a little contrived. That, and he tends just to just point out features and label them as “good” or “great” while marveling at almost every car’s insane power with cartoon-like charisma. These cars can’t all be that powerful, Matt.

Scottie Kilmer

Scottie Kilmer, where do we even begin? Just to set the record straight, we do have respect for Scottie and all his years of mechanic mastery. He does provide good information most of the time, however, his delivery of that information is like listening to your drunk uncle talk about how great the 1970s used to be. You want to listen, just to be nice, but after a couple of minutes it sounds about as annoying as a cat in heat. That and Scottie’s video titles are just click-bait heaven. No, thank you.

Vehicle Virgins

According to the Vehicle Virgins “about” page, Parker Nirenstein wants to help you make a great decision when it comes to buying your first car. However, all of his videos showcase exotic cars like Lamborghinis and even more rare and expensive ones like the Mercedes S65 AMG and the Rolls Royce Phantom. Apparently, Parker lives in a dream world where everyone can afford a $200,000 car as their first ride.

Tanner Fox

Tanner Fox showcases a lot of cool cars like modded Nissan GT-Rs and Porsches. And while we do like cars like those, we find it a little weird watching an 18-year-old kid run around with his 12-year-old friends driving exotic high-dollar machinery all while juggling girlfriends and ex-girlfriends. The whole channel is just weird, avoid it if you can.

It’s a tough gig, we know

We understand that many of you have seen these channels and perhaps even like them. If that’s the case, then more power to you. And we also realize that it takes a lot of time, effort, and courage to do what they do, considering they could easily just not doing anything instead. But considering the type of information they put out and the annoying and fake deliveries in which they do so, we would just rather them not do what they do so that we can all save a few more minutes of our precious lives watching more-interesting videos with better information.
