The last five years have been a big deal for America’s resident performance car nameplate. That’s right; in five years, the Chevrolet Corvette has gone from a front-engine rear-wheel drive (RWD) sports car to a bleeding-edge mid-engine performer. Unfortunately, even with a price tag far below that of the Porsches in the ‘Vette’s crosshairs, driving a Corvette on the track is something fans seldom get to do. Don’t fret, though. At the National Corvette Museum (NCM) Motorsports Park, you can hit the track in a C8 Stingray, E-Ray, or Z06.

Despite having a historic connection to oval racing circuits and drag strips, the United States also hosts dynamic, challenging courses like Laguna Seca, Willow Springs, and the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). Hang out long enough at any of those sacred tracks, and you’re bound to see a Chevrolet Corvette or two. 

Still, if you want to drive a new Corvette without buying one, there’s an option. You could borrow one from a buddy, or you could head down to the NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Right there, across Interstate 65 from GM Bowling Green Assembly, is the Corvette’s spiritual home course.

Better yet, you can show up, sign a waiver, and purchase track time in a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Z06, or E-Ray. With touring laps, drivers can chase a seasoned professional driver as they speed, corner, and brake around the track’s optimal racing lines.

Of course, the NCM Motorsports Park isn’t just for rentable racing experiences. As something of a pilgrimage for Corvette fans, the track encourages drivers to bring out their own ‘Vettes of every generation, from the iconic albeit anemic C1 to the horsepower mongers like the C7 ZR1.

However, the track also functions as, well, a track. Depending on the day of your visit, you might see a gaggle of motorcycles or enthusiast cars out on the track, tackling the circuit’s corners and elevation changes. Just after wrapping up a spirited track attack in a Mobil 1-liveried Corvette Z06, I spied a Pontiac G8 and a Kia Stinger prepping to hit the track.
