If you’re in the market for a 2022 Dodge Challenger, one of the best trim levels you can choose is the Scat Pack. Why? Because it has a large V8 engine that produces enough power to make the rear wheels spin. It also has a sporty suspension that makes it corner well in the canyons. To top it all off, if you only care about doing burnout and donuts, it can do that too. In fact, it’s pretty much a buttoned-up burnout machine.

The 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack is outfitted with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that makes 485 hp, which is enough to smoke the large 20-inch tires attached to it. If you’re having trouble doing a burnout, the car is equipped with a line lock that locks up the front brakes and leaves the rear wheels free.

With this feature activated, you can easily light up the rear tires to your heart’s content. Keep in mind, though, that it’s made for drag racing and should not be used on the street. Although, we doubt most Challenger owners would care.

Another nifty feature is the launch control, which you can set to a specific RPM to properly launch the car. The stock setting is 2,000 rpm, which is what we kept it at. To make the launch control work, we pushed the “launch” button, held the brake, floored the gas pedal, and released the brake.

The Challenger shot off like a rocket, and given its low RPM launch, we didn’t detect any wheel spin nor veer off the straight path we were driving on. Overall, it’s a great feature that makes the car a terror on the drag strip.

How does the Challenger Scat Pack drive?

Overall, the 2022 Challenger Scat Pack drives smoothly. Its suspension is a little firm, which is to be expected. But its large size and comfortable front seats make it feel like a large touring car as opposed to an all-out race car. It felt like the large land yacht cars from the 70s, but not in a bad way.

As for the power, the V8 engine felt like it was raring to go at every stoplight. A simple press on the accelerator made the car take off quickly, and we stabbed the throttle hard; the car would jump like we were in a drag race. It was fun, for the most part, but it also felt like it chugged a lot of gas whenever we would jack rabbit the car off the line.

As stated before, this car is more of a burnout machine, if nothing else.

The Challenger’s interior has come a long way

The Dodge Challenger’s interior is not only comfortable, but it’s well-sorted and has a decent fit and finish to it. It’s not a German luxury car, but we liked the Alcantara and leather seats with the orange stitching. They provide a good amount of lateral support and were large enough for the average American.

Additionally, the car’s dashboard was easy to read, and the buttons were within easy reach. We liked the 8.4-inch touchscreen display and Harmon Kardon sound system as well. Although, the rearview camera is among the worst we have seen in a car.

Overall, the Challenger’s interior feels buttoned up and should withstand the test of time for many years.

If you’re looking for a muscle car that’s great for burnouts and comfortable to drive every day, we highly recommend the 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. Sure, the Hellcat is nice, but save the extra $20,000. You really don’t need any more power than what this trim has to offer.
