Dwayne Johnson loves his mom, and to show her just how much he appreciates her, he gave her a pretty nice Christmas gift this year: a brand new Cadillac. It appears in pictures to be a 2022 Cadillac CT5, a luxury car worth quite a bit of money. Here’s how the surprise went down, and what Johnson’s mother thought of the gift.

In a video he posted on Instagram, Dwayne Johnson reveals how he surprised his mom with a brand new Cadillac. In the video, with the help of his two young daughters, Johnson leads his mom to the car with her hand covering her eyes. His daughters, Jasmine, 6, and Tiana, 3, stand in front of the car. Then they count down, say “Merry Christmas!” and everyone steps back so his mother, Ata, sees the new Cadillac. Ata is clearly surprised and delighted, and she hugs her son and granddaughters, then walks to hug the person holding the camera, who may have been Johnson’s oldest daughter, Simone, 20.

In the caption for his Instagram post, Johnson wrote, “Surprised my mom with a new car for Christmas today.” He went on to say that she was surprised. “She was shocked. She got a few good ugly cries in. Then once her grand babies joined her inside the car. She was overcome with pure joy joy.”

Johnson also posted photos of Ata behind the wheel of her new white Cadillac. She is wearing a huge grin, and her two young granddaughters climb into the car with her. There is also a shot of the family’s dog, Hobbs, checking out the new Cadillac with a chicken dog toy in his mouth. Johnson wrote, “I’m so grateful I can do this kinda stuff for my mom, who’s had one helluva life. I don’t take any of it for granted. Neither does she.”

In the background of the video, Elvis Presley’s “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” plays. Johnson ends his post with, “Merry Christmas ma, enjoy your new ride!!! And your Elvis records. We love you. You deserve a lot more ~ dj.”

The base price for the 2022 Cadillac CT5 starts at $37,295. It goes up to $50,095. It’s not clear what the Cadillac that Johnson gave to Ata includes, but there are lots of options and add-ons for the 2022 CT5 that could drive the price up pretty high. The Cadillac CT5 V has an MSRP of $51,290. The CT5 V Blackwing price is $85,615. The Blackwing can be upgraded with a 6.2-liter V8 engine with a ten-speed automatic transmission for a cost of $88,165. Certain colors and add-ons can make the CT5 price even higher than that.

This isn’t the first time that Johnson has given away cars. He’s given his mother a Cadillac before, and recently he gave a veteran his own personal Ford F-150. Johnson’s generosity is well-known and is certainly part of his appeal as an actor.
