Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Wants a Ford F-150 Lightning
It’s no secret that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson likes to drive Ford pickup trucks. One of the most famous movie stars globally, he often posts photos of his F-150 Raptor. Now, he’s taken an interest in the brand new electric offering from the American automaker. Ford‘s F-150 Lightning pickup truck is one of the premier electric options releasing in the coming year. Johnson went straight to the CEO to express his interest in owning one.
A Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Recently, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson expressed his interest over Twitter in purchasing a Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck. When the CEO of Ford, Jim Farley, tweeted about the new truck, it received an unexpected reply.
“In Sept., due to huge demand for #F150Lightning, we doubled our production plan from 40k to 80k trucks per year. The demand keeps growing, so we’re doubling it again and now plan to produce 150,000 annually. America wants an all-electric @Ford F-150, and we plan to deliver,” Farley tweeted to his nearly 97,000 followers.
Johnson replied saying, “Delivering the goods. I have my 350 SuperDuty for the farm, but as soon as we all get thru our supply chain dynamic I’ll try the #F150Lightning Keep delivering for the people and Happy New Year buddy”.
Not too long after, Farley had another response to The Rock. He claimed he already told Arnold Schwarzenegger a ride in an F-150 Lightning, so they’d pick him up. What a pair that will be.
Ford CEO Jim Farley and Arnold Schwarzenegger worked on global climate initiatives together
According to Detroit Free Press, this isn’t the first time Farley and the former governor of California crossed paths. After seeing the coverage of the Ford F-150 Lightning reveal in July, Schwarzenegger quickly realized how introducing an electric version of the best-selling truck in America could accelerate change. Of course, Arnold is the perfect person to work with on something like this, ultra-famous and influential.
It’s not the first time Ford or another automaker’s CEO or representative interacted with a celebrity online, and it won’t be the last. As Muscle Cars and Trucks mentioned, it’s one of the best marketing strategies available right now. Not only does it humanize the brand or the CEO of the company, but it also shows people that their “hero” or just favorite celebrity is interested in the product. If people want tough, rough pickup trucks, how can they say no to one that’s good enough for The Rock and The Terminator?
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a loyal Ford truck owner
The Ford F-150 Lightning certainly isn’t alone in the electric truck market. There are plenty of options releasing within the next year or more, so Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has a selection. Like many truck owners, Johnson seems loyal to a brand, obviously Ford. In the Twitter exchange, he mentions his Ford F-350, and his F-150 Raptor has been spotted on social media plenty of times.
Other electric trucks coming out soon include the Rivian R1T, Tesla Cybertruck, Chevy Silverado EV, GMC Hummer EV. There have even been talks of a Ram and some Toyota options turning electric. Pretty soon, there won’t be an automaker without electric options. Fortunately, pickup trucks are heading in that direction early. That makes it so automakers can work the kinks out and make improvements, and in a few years, EV variants will be just as good or better than their gas alternatives.
