Edmunds Only Finds 2 (Tiny) Things Wrong With Top-Rated Full-Size Pickup Truck
Picking the best full-size pickup truck is no easy thing. If you ask 10 car critics to pick the best pickup truck out of five options, they’ll all, somehow, pick 10 different trucks. If you’ll excuse the hyperbole, I only mean to say that opinions on pickup trucks are hotly debated and firm. Edmunds picked the 2023 Ford F-150 as its top-rated pickup truck. And while many car reviewers did not show the F-150 much love, Edmunds only found two (very insignificant) issues with the Ford F-150.

Of course, this changes from publication to publication. However, Edmunds picked the Ford F-150 and brushed the rest of the competition away.
Edmunds seems to really love the newest iteration of America’s favorite pickup truck. The list of pros is longer than a CVS receipt after you go full-blown grocery shopping. The reviewers praised the wide array of engine options first. The 2023 Ford F-150 has multiple gasoline options, a hybrid option, and now a full-electric option. Not only that, but one of the most unique and efficient engine options (PowerBoost Hybrid) is also a monster tower (12,700 lbs).
Other than loving the truck’s performance, Edmunds also appreciated the easy infotainment useability and the coolest truck feature of all time, the onboard generator.
What problems does the 2023 Ford F-150 have?
There is an old trick that helps show you what people really think: don’t listen to what someone likes about something; listen to what they dislike.
Edmunds’ list of pros is nice and complimentary, but the real love of the F-150 is best seen in its list of cons. Edmunds’ critiques are mild, to say the least.
The first critique is that interior storage “could be roomier or more versatile.” The review doesn’t elaborate on this.
The second critique is equally mild. The Edmunds’ reviewer wrote, “ [the] hybrid powertrain is noisy when powering the available onboard generator.” Again, if this is all you could come up with to criticize, it doesn’t seem like there is much to criticize.

The Ford F-150 is a tough nameplate to match. It carries with it an enormous amount of cultural weight and force. There is a reason why it is the most popular pickup truck in America. While there are many perspectives that offer valid critiques, we are quick to label reviews like this as “lip service” or something else equally or even more cynical. However, It seems more likely that the reviewer drove the most popular pickup truck and found a ton to enjoy and little to dislike.
