Edmunds-Tested 2022 Kia EV6 Reportedly Misses EPA Range Estimate
While the 2022 Kia EV6 has received plenty of praise, apparently it is facing some range issues. Which is a disappointment for any electric vehicle to face. Testing was done by Edmunds who initially reported the issue, and apparently, it is just one of two non-Tesla models to miss its range. That said, not all hope is lost for this EV crossover. It still offers practicality and modern features. But with range anxiety being a major part in buying a Kia EV6, it is important for these vehicles to offer what they claim.
The 2022 Kia EV6 falls short of its EPA estimated range
According to Edmunds, during the real-world testing, the 2022 Kia EV6 only managed about 260 miles on a full charge. In the configuration tested, the EV6 was supposed to make it 274 miles. So, it’s not like all hope is lost for this EV model. The vehicle that Edmunds tested with the all-wheel drive version with 320 horsepower and 446 pound-foot of torque.
Outside of the range issues, the publication was impressed with the performance of the 2022 Kia EV6. Noting that it seemed to have a more sporty drive than the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Which is this vehicle’s corporate cousin.
What is the range of the Kia EV6 crossover?
The range of this vehicle depends on its configuration, in its base form the 2022 EV6 has an estimated range of 232 miles. The ultimate range of this model comes from having rear-wheel drive. With this configuration, the estimated range is 310 miles. But, as reported by Edmunds, the EV6 may not be able to achieve its written range.
When outfitted with AWD, the Kia EV6 can achieve about 274 miles of estimated range. This should be ample enough for most needs, especially when this EV crossover can gain up to 217 miles of range in under 20 minutes of charging.
Is the Kia EV6 a good electric SUV?
