All-Electric 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Looks Just Like the Concept and Starts Under $60,000
We rarely see a concept car survive a couple of rounds of strict regulations and make it to production largely unchanged. However, that is exactly what has happened with the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ. As you’d expect, this upcoming model is an all-electric crossover. Aside from being an appealing EV, this new model tells us plenty about the brand’s future.
According to Cadillac’s latest press release, this all-new EV should be a compelling buy for luxury SUV shoppers. In fact, it still carries a sub-$60,000 base price. Additionally, you can even option the brand’s hands-free driver assistance system. However, it’ll be a while before we see this EV on the road.
Is the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ electric?
Look under the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ’s hood, and you won’t find an engine. Instead, you’ll find a single 340-hp electric motor sending all of its available power to the rear wheels. However, a more powerful variant with two motors and an all-wheel-drive variant will arrive eventually.
In terms of range, we’re looking at an estimated range of 300 miles out of a 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The LYRIQ rides on the brand’s all-new Ultium Platform, which houses longer-lasting batteries. In fact, we’re seeing this model slightly early, thanks to accelerated development on this platform.
Once the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ arrives, it’ll feature DC fast charging at 190 kW. This will allow you yo get 76 miles of range with just 10 minutes of charge time. With a 19.2 kW charging module, you can get 52 miles of range per hour of charge at home.
If you’re looking for hands-free driving, this new EV plans to offer it. Cadillac’s Super Cruise system is hands down the best in the industry as of writing. With a variety of mapped roads across the U.S., the system tackles highways with confidence.
What about interior tech?
If you’re into EVs due to their tech-filled nature, the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ looks like it won’t disappoint. Since there is no engine to offset unwanted road-noise, the American carmaker has implemented some clever tech. The first is an Active Noise Cancellation system. In short, this system analyzes unwanted noise frequencies and plays them back to cancel out the noise. This is just like a good set of noise-canceling headphones.
This EV’s interior seems closely related to that of the all-new Cadillac Escalade. That’s because you’re getting a massive 33-inch LED display that houses both an infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. By making it an ultra-wide screen, you get an extra surface area to display crucial features such as a navigation system.
How much will the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ cost?
If you’re looking at getting a brand-new 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ, you’ll have to wait for some time. As mentioned earlier, this platform is still largely under development. As a result, it won’t arrive this year. However, the American carmaker plans to put it into production at the start of 2022. As a result, it’ll arrive shortly after as a 2023 model.
In terms of pricing, this EV will start at $59,990. However, expect this price to increase significantly once you start adding optional extras.
