Now might be the right time to buy the Tesla Model Y crossover because it just got a price drop. The Long Range Model Y trim has a 316 driving range and now has a starting price of $49,990.  While this is an appealing deal, there are many other electrified options that you might want to consider over the Tesla Model Y.  We can’t deny Tesla’s many innovations, but the company still has many concerning quality issues. We’ve gathered a list to help you identify other popular options in today’s market. 

2020 Jaguar I-Pace 

Starting price: $69,850

The Jaguar I-Pace is one of Tesla’s bigger competitors. This crossover has a 234-mile all-electric range and offers a smooth ride quality. While the I-Pace doesn’t boast the same driving range as the Model Y does, its sophisticated style makes it extremely appealing to buyers.  Critics have praised the I-Pace for its adaptive suspension and quick acceleration.  

On the inside, the I-Pace offers a lavish car cabin that’s comfortable enough for long car rides. The I-Pace also has a modern infotainment system that has plenty of smartphone connection features including navigation. This SUV also comes with a digital gauge cluster. To top it off, there  are also numerous safety features on this model including clear exit monitor and a perpendicular park assist function 

2022 Nissan Ariya

Starting price; $40,000

If you can afford to wait until later in  2021, you might want to consider the Nissan Ariya. This carmaker is so confident in its all-new electric crossover that the company is calling it “Tesla’s worst nightmare”. It’s no secret that Nissan hasn’t been doing well lately, but the Ariya could be the company’s saving grace. Just looking at pricing alone, the Ariya is already an appealing option because of its lower base price. 

Nissan says that the Ariya will have up to 300 miles of range if you combine the single-motor package with the 90-kWh long-range battery. There’s also a 65-kWh short-range option. The Ariya will also offer plenty of bells and whistles including Zero Gravity seats, a pair of 12-inch display screens, and disappearing controls. Other desirable features on the inside of the Ariya include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Starting price: $43,895

Ford has already proven that it’s ready to brawl with Tesla with the brand-new Mustang Mach-E electric crossover. The Mach-E has a driving range of up to 300 miles according to CleanTechnica and can charge in just 10 minutes with a DC battery charger. Ford’s new electric crossover will also be available with front- or all-wheel-drive. 

The Mach-E has specifically garnered attention for its quick speed since it can go from 0 to 60 mpg in 3.5 seconds. Ford is also taking direct aim at Tesla by offering its own hands-free driving system called Active Drive Assist. This system is supposed to be less complicated than the AutoPilot features that Tesla has.
