The Kia EV6 compact electric SUV is the first step in Kia’s push to full electrification. The EV6 made a huge splash in 2022 because of its driving range, fast charging capability, and style. The 2022 Kia EV6 is the South Korean cousin of 2022’s World Car of the Year, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 took the world by storm in 2022 because of the value it provides and how comfortable and accessible it is. The Ioniq 5 gave the world a glimpse at the electric future as an electric small family SUV.

The EV6 is different from the Ioniq 5, but it brings plenty of value to drivers in its own way. The South Korean automaker sold 14,446 Carnival models as of August 2022. Kia sold 16,124 EV6 models as of August 2022.

While the EV6 isn’t a best-selling model by any means yet, the new nameplate has plenty of room for growth over the next few years. Since electric vehicle charging infrastructure has a long way to go, the EV6’s current sales numbers are a good sign for the future of the small electric SUV. The EV6 is on track to outsell the Kia Stinger in 2022 and it’s trailing the Kia Rio in sales.

The Kia EV6’s future looks bright as the world continues to develop EV charging infrastructure and EVs become more popular. It could become one of Kia’s most popular nameplates in the years to come.
