New clues about the Kia pickup truck are starting to emerge. Russell Wager, the Vice President of Kia American Marketing, shared a few new clues about the Kia pickup truck that can’t be ignored. 

Is a Kia pickup truck in the works? 

Yes, an electric Kia pickup truck has been confirmed globally, but it won’t follow Kia’s old image. Kia is going for an upscale model instead of something that’s fully focused on value and affordability. 

Russell Wager shared that Kia isn’t America’s Best Value anymore. This is the logo that Kia used in the United States for years, but things have been changing. Wager explained that it’s not what the brand is about as it continues to grow. 

He explained that the Kia truck will need to fit within what’s happening now, which is moving into more premium designs for the interior, technology, and optional features. It’s not going to be an entry-level vehicle into the brand. 

Wager confirmed that the truck won’t be in a high-value, low-price segment like the Ford Maverick. So, prepare your wallet. The new Kia truck could be pricy. 

How much power will the Kia truck have? 

Clues suggest that the electric Kia pickup truck will ride on the same E-GMP platform that’s the basis for the Kia EV9, EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Genesis GV60, and other electric vehicles from these brands. 

The EV9 will have three rows of seats and a range of up to 300 miles. That sounds like a great start for the Kia truck, as the Ford F-150 Lightning offers up to 320 miles of range. Kia could remove the third-row seats for a truck bed. 

But the Kia truck could gain parts from a ton of other options. Under the Kia Plan S, Kia aims to sell 500,000 electric vehicles annually by 2025 and four million EVs annually by 2030. To reach this goal, Kia plans to introduce 11 electric vehicles in 2026 with a pioneering sustainability roadmap. 

So, Kia seems really busy, but it’s paying off. Kia is already the second-best electric vehicle seller in the United States. It’s catching up with Tesla at a rapid pace, and there is time to spare before the Tesla Cybertruck eventually arrives. 

When will the electric Kia truck arrive? 

The electric Kia pickup truck may arrive late to the party. Wager shared that Kia is watching what competitors are doing. Kia knows that the demand is there but wants to see what sales are like. 

According to GreenCarReports, Kai may want to see how traditional-looking electric trucks like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevy Silverado EV compare to brand-new options like the Rivian R1T or the wild-looking Tesla Cybertruck. 

Also, Kia hasn’t confirmed any plans to assemble electric vehicles in America, which doesn’t sound good for keeping prices down. The chicken tax is currently sticking around, adding a 25 percent tariff on imported trucks. 

But now we know that the electric Kia pickup truck is happening, it could be based on the Kia EV9, and it should provide premium luxury and comfort. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
