One particular EV on the rise in America is not even a car, truck, or SUV—it’s an e-bike. While it sounds like a motorcycle, it’s not because it weighs much less and is built on a regular bicycle frame. 

There’s an e-bike on the market that takes that same technology and raises the bar. It’s known as the Engine Pro and is produced by Engwe, an international company with warehouses in England and the U.S. What’s so great about it? Let’s take a look.

The company behind the E-Bike

According to Engwe’s website, the company began with three young men who were bike enthusiasts that loved to ride. One particular trip they went on was in a mountainous area where they spent quite a bit of time riding uphill, which was exhausting. 

It got to the point where they had no choice but to push the bikes for parts of the way, which sparked the conversation about wishing they had bikes with electricity that could take them up most of the way. That wish eventually transitioned to reality many years later. 

The bikes the brand produces are meant to meet three essential needs of bike adventurers. You need a bike that can ride far, a bike that can ride hard, and the cycle should take you there no matter the weather, even if there is snow on the path. The Engine Pro e-bike meets these needs.

What makes this E-Bike so great?

While tons of inexpensive e-bikes are available, not many can say they’re built specifically to handle rough paths and urban streets so that you can travel anywhere with them. It offers 20-inch tires with a 4-inch cross-section, which is perfect for gripping the road or path. 

It has front and rear suspension and can ride like a standard bicycle. It’s foldable, so you can put it in the back of your vehicle. You can travel to a bike path, pull it out, set it up again, and ride. It’s also lightweight so that you can carry it with you. 

Imagine riding the bike to work, folding it up when you get there, and carrying it with you on an elevator to your office, where you set it aside. You carry it outside, set it up, and ride back home when the day is done. 

What else does it offer?

The Engine Pro has a rear hub motor, which you can get in either 750 or 1,000 Watts, and produces 50 Nm of torque. Paired with it is a 48-volt, 16-amp/hour battery, which can run the bike at approximately 75 miles of range (120 km). That’s more than what some other lightweight bikes are offering. 

The e-bike weighs about 83 lbs (with the battery) and can handle up to 300 lbs of weight. You also get front and rear brakes along with an eight-speed system. As far as features go, you’ll get cruise control and a color LCD screen.

The price for the model is currently $1,449.99 for the black, blue, and gray models. According to Auto Evolution, if you choose the Aurora version, the limited edition model, you will pay a couple hundred more. 

The electric e-bike is a game changer for those who want to take tougher trails or want some extra help getting to a destination without having to pedal the entire time.
