Sometimes, you want to get in your truck or SUV just to getaway. Now the Ram Rabel could make it easier to get out of the city on your own. This is pretty exciting for those who love the great outdoors because the Ram Rebel OTG concept is back on the table. 

What is the Ram Rebel OTG?

The Ram Rebel OTG is a concept truck from 2019. OTG stands for Off the Grid, which sounds pretty great for adventuring. After this concept made an appearance at the 2019 SEMA show, it seemed to disappear. 

But not it’s back. On April 12, Stellantis filed with the Patent and Trademark office in a generic ‘Automobile Body’ category. The images display the 2020 Ram Rebel 1500 OTG concept with a massive amount of Mopar and third-party accessories. 

It could be the base form of the truck, allowing Stellantis to quickly place this new option on dealership floors. But we’re wondering why this concept is being considered with the Rebel instead of the Ram 1500 TRX. 

What comes with the Rebel OTG? 

We’re still waiting to learn more about the Ram Rebel OTG. The concept includes a larger flow-through grille with RAM lettering, a steel front bumper including integrated off-road lights, and a high-ride snorkel. 

Side steps double as rock rails, and there is a two-inch lift. The larger fender flares protect Beadlock wheels wrapped in beefy 35-inch Goodyear tires. 

It also borrowed the 10,000 lb Warn winch from the Ram Power Wagon and the bumper from the Ram Tradsmens for a better departure angle. 

A Yakima rooftop basket and utility rack sit on the roof with even more LED lights. Plus, there is a rooftop tent, an awning, and a solar array. The bed-mounted slide-out cooking area includes a cooler from Dometic. 

The Ram Rebel OTG concept is powered by the 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel with 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. This Rebel-based rig could provide a cheaper option than the Ram 1500 TRX. 

According to AutoBlog, it could be used to go after weaker rivals like the Chevy Silverado ZR2 while the Ram 1500 TRX continues to conquer the Ford Raptor. 

How does the Rebel compare to the TRX?

The Ram Rebel OTG is equipped with tons of Mopar accessories, and it could be the next special edition, limited-run Mopar model. The Ram 1500 TRX is still pretty unique on its own, with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. 

With the 2022 Rebel, you can opt for the diesel engine mentioned above. The 3.6-liter V6 engine with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. YOu can upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8 engine for 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. 

The 2022 Ram Rebel starts at about $48,140. We aren’t sure how much the OTG package will add to the price. The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX begins at around $77,780. 

It’s possible that the OTG Overlanding truck will be cheaper than the Ram 1500 TRX. We will keep our eyes glued to this story and update you as new information becomes available.
